Can you play DoTa with out connecting to battlenet? Instead, in custom games? I already downloaded the latest Dota Map.

yes, you can play w/o connecting to battlenet and you can play via lan with your friends if you have internet connection you can also play through gg-client, hamachi etc...

no, you MUST be connected through bnet to play dota. /sarcasm.
but you won't get any good if you don't play through bnet.

oh I just tried playing it through custom games. It wouldnt work. It keeps going back to the start game screen everytime i try to start.

It should work fine playing normally, but you can also get a version that has bots so you could use that to practice.

it must be a bad map.. try downloading the map again..

ur warcraft version doesnt match the map?

You can play dota without connecting to battlenet by using hamachi or via lan.

That was said earlier by deltashock, but yes you can use gg-client, hamachi, lan etc.

Actually there is another way that was by wireless - by editing the setting in network connections.
