What hero to use?

Hi, i have only started playing dota recently and i was owned everytime. People just stun me and start killing me.

Can i have suggestion on what hero to use for a newbie like me?

just use any hero. I started the game today as well and I won each time its not rocket sience :P. Just move in with a group of your allies then attack slowly, when your low on health go back to your base and heal at the fountain.

Btw, I can't seem too add bot heros when playing Dota. Does any1 know why ?

uhmm... when i started i used with Shadow Shaman a pretty good hero to use with his combo and farming skills.

the hero you would 1st start with would depend on your playing style.

if your the in-your-face-let's-duke-it-out type go for strenght heroes.
strenght heroes generally have lots of hp

i would suggest:
Rogue Knight/Skeleton king (both are almost basically point and click)

*note: exception to N'aix he's not a stenght hero but he is THE best description of a point and click hero which you can use if your not familiar with using a lot of hotkeys at first.

when you think you can handle multiple hotkeys you can start performing combos.

Sandking-the burrowstrike-epicenter combo is a tried and tested method. although there are ways to counter this, when your playing with beginners it's a good practice for doing combos.


if your the type that likes to hide behind your aliies and pick off enemies you might want to try these ranged heroes:

Lightning Revnant
Troll Warlord
Dwarven sniper
Bone Fletcher
*although Agi types have less hp than strenght heroes you the Agi types can make up with good damage with their attacks.

and if you are the type that likes to dish out damage by using spells, use int heroes. int heroes are spellcasters, but be careful because they tend to have low hp and die quickly during early game.

int heroes:
Shadow Shaman (AOE spell, Player target disables,Summon Ultimate)
Crystal Maiden (player target spells, AOE ultimate)
Slayer (AOE spells, player target Ultimate)
Lord Of Olympia (Low cost spells, Ultimate can hit enemy anywhere in the map)

if your playing on a team, teamwork is the key. you might want to try out these heroes who usually contribute more to a team.

Vengeful Spirit (Swap Ultimate)
Centaur Warchief (AOE Stun)

Anyway those were the heroes I have started with when i first played DoTA and i found them quite easy to use. some might have took a little while to get used to, but when you have a general concept of playing DoTA (how to kill heroes,farming,pushing,working with the team) it would be easier to learn how to use the other heroes you haven't tried yet.

P.S. DoTA is more of domination through item builds. find the right item build for the hero you choose by looking for a guide for that hero and you can find his/her combo along in that guide.

i wouldnt suggest those hero's for a start [dont flame just my opinion] .... just try Skeleton King "Leoric" you wont be bothered by any other keys, just have to push "T" for Leoric's Stun.. can practice running, kill and all sorts of stuff..

from this point on it would much easier to pick out complicated chars w/ their own combo's and such...

if your using wc3 ver. 1.20c you should look for "ai" [6.12, 6.25, 6.27]

you need a map which has AI labeled at the back.
e.g: DotA 5.84c AI
DotA 6.27b AI

imo, agility based heroes are always the best for beginners. or range attacker also good. keep your distance at first, once u get the hang of it in terms of item build, strategy etc, u will soon know what char best to use.

dwarven sniper is the cheapest to use. pump up his speed and damage, u'll be owning instead..

My first hero was bane elemental..God I sucked..But I am pretty good with it now,but however,my 2nd hero was my best ever,which is bone.I can say I am a very good bone player.Why?Not to be proud of myself but that's because I spent around 5 months playing no other than bone clinkz..That's because I didnt know how to play any other hero.5 months with bone?If I dont get pro with that amount of time,I did rather shove my underwear up ma ass..

i guess that proves that you'll find a hero that suits you well ^_^ you just have to find the right one for you lol.

find a hero with good hp and wind walk, get kills when they are low health, quite easy :)
