Items basically it can make or break a hero, change the tide of the game and win or lose the game for you and your team.

having said that yeah you know THE best items for your hero and if you get to fully equip your hero you'd go beyond godlike...but that is a big IF.
money is a big factor when playing DoTA and it's best to know where to spend it. Here we'll discuss what you think is the best item with concern to the cost.

for me the three items would be all farming tools (well for obvious reasons).

1. Maelstorm
=============

Maelstorm is usually an Agi(range) heroes best friend. although it's an orb effect item and lightning damage was nerfed,(which proves how strong this item is) this item can easily get back the money you spent on it because you would get to easily kill creep waves with a fast attack speed. Your farming potential would incease not to mention hero killing too.

2. Battle Fury
=============

Generally for Str(melee) heroes but not for all(sven has splash already) the battle fury can work wonders with the right heroes. Sand king can get a whole creep waves cash with battle fury + caustic finale and before you know it, you've got enough cash to get the more expensive items. also you'd save sand king's mana because you won't need to use burrowstrike on those creep waves ^_^.

3. Hand of Midas
=============

Underrated and underused in my opinion. it's a good item with heroes that don't fam well. the key here is use the skill(turning enemies to gold) not on the enemy creeps but on the neutral creeps. the best value you'd get is on the lvl 5 ursa warrior(not the Hero, the creep with the same sprite) ^_^.





so that is just 3 of what i think should be one of the 1st items your character should have in order to help you prepare for late game. ^_^
*although there are other great stuff, these are what i think is the top 3 ^_^

I think sange and yasha is also good...Coz it adds both your movement and attacking speed and it has a percent to maim which slows your opponent...And i see most people using it =D

maelstrom is only for faster attacking heroes..
or else it is deemed useless to me..
if troll warlord uses maelstrom he is strong u ask a sniper to use it .. weak man

dont get it on ursa, doesent really need it at lvl 5, power treads are way better anyway.

but yeah this topic seems interesting, id say alot of the good items are the ones that you can buy piece by piece with componets under 2k, S&Y for example, great item for both str and agility hero's, dont get me wrong you dont always need it but sometimes it's good early and late game.

i think ursa is my best hero now, i never really lost with her unless my team left or something like that. ursa would do good with hands of midas i wont dissagree with that but id rather get lothar's edge early game.

lothars for ursa is good...
but in late game.. people buy gem or ward.. its useless
thats why i think blink dagger is better then lothar egde..
coz of the instance u reach there

For best gold to damage ratio, Radiance is the best.
For best gold to health ratio, Vitality Boosters are the best.
Battlefury is the most useless item.
