A Guide for Sven ( Rogue Knight )

This is my first time to write a guide so dont blame me if this sux...

So why choose Sven? Sven IMO is one of the strongest melee characters if equipped correctly. Your only problem is if your opponent chooses Medusa and Purge you ( Purge cancels out God Strength which is Sven's ultimate skill and the skill where he depends ) and you dont know how to avoid it. But thats no problem because im going to mention how to kill medusa without her purging you. im going to include that one in the last part of this guide.

At the beginning start with these items...
1 boots of speed
2 null talisman ( yea not bracer because youre going to need mana to spam storm bolts at enemies )
1 helm of dominator ( 1 mask of death + 1 helmet of iron will )

After getting those items mentioned above lets start levelling...
Go level up at creeps (obviously) but if you can get the first blood thats loads better because from my personal opinion, the one who gets first blood has the momentum. As you level up, you add skills. And the skills you add depends on the opposing hero. if your enemy or the other team has visage ( the bat thingy that summons gargoyles or her minions ) you should max out cleaving attack ASAP after maxing out storm bolt. But if the enemy hero uses melee attack its your lucky day!XD because most melee attackers doesnt stand a chance against Sven on a 1 on 1 (oh yea... if you want a 1 on 1 against a hero try asking them to go to the river. where you get the power-ups and pawn them ^^. i always do that to show them Sven's not weak). OK back to the guide. If you encounter a melee attacker on the river, try spamming Stormbolt and attack him while he/she is stunned. Dont worry on your mana because you have 2 null talismans. He / She will eventually go home if he / she has red HP. When that time happens its time for you to push and pawn towers. If you level up, try putting these skills and follow them and put skills in order. These skills are suitable for "solo-type" heros who dont summon minions to help them in battles:

level 1 - storm bolt
level 2 - stats
level 3 - storm bolt
level 4 - stats
level 5 - storm bolt
level 6 - god strength
level 7 - storm bolt ( MAXED )
level 8 - stats
level 9 - stats
level 10 - stats
level 11 - god strength
level 12 - stats
level 13 - stats
level 14 - from this point you can choose to put a skill point on cleaving attack or toughness aura. but i recommend to put it on cleaving attack because you need to farm for money and you dont need toughness aura that much because your a STR type hero and has lots of HP. But its your decision on where you want to put this skill point.
level 15 - stats
level 16 - god strength
level 17 - stats
level 18 - Same as level 14 and i prefer if you add a skill point on cleaving attack if you did what i told you. max out 1 skill first.
level 19 - stats ( MAXED )
level 20 ---
... l =- MAX out cleaving attack first and then toughness aura
level 25 ---

You need to buy equipments to help you level up so after getting enough money you should have these items:
1 boots of speed
2 null talisman
1 helm of dominator
1 crystalys ( 1 broad sword + 1 blades of attack + recipe )

then:
1 boots of speed
2 null talisman
1 helm of dominator
1 burize do kyanon ( 1 crystalys + 1 demon edge + recipe ) trust me this guy needs the crits. his crit with final equipments + god strength damages about 1k+ and thats pretty scary O_o.

then:
1 power treads ( 1 boots of speed + 1 gloves of haste + recipe )
2 null talisman
1 helm of dominator
1 perseverance ( 1 void stone + 1 ring of health ) <--- hidden shop or secret shop.

then:
1 power treads
2 null talisman
1 satanic ( 1 helm of dominator + 1 messerschimdt's reaver + recipe)
1 burize do kyanon
1 perseverance

then:
1 power treads
2 null talisman
1 satanic
1 burize do kyanon
1 linken sphere ( 1 perseverance + 1 ultimate orb + recipe)
or you can have a...
1 battle fury ( 1 perseverance + i forgot the other one + recipe )

then:
1 power treads
1 null talisman ( sell the other one )
1 satanic
1 burize do kyanon
1 linken sphere or 1 battle fury
1 aegis of immortal ( 1 planeswalker's cloak + 1 plate mail + 1 stout shield + recipe ) < -- this one's for magic type hero's + reincarnation which is very useful especially if your pushing the base. but you dont buy aegis for the reducton of magic attacks,you buy this because of the skill and the attributes. so i recommend this one.

then:
1 power treads
1 satanic
1 burize do kyanon
1 linken sphere or 1 battle fury
1 aegis of immortal
1 Divine Rapier ( 1 sacred relic + 1 demon edge + 1 claymore ) dont worry about dying because you have aegis of immortal. this one doesnt fall even if you die. if you cant afford this one you may buy...
1 Radiance ( 1 sacred relic + recipe ) you want to get this one because if your the one being pushed, you will be outnumbered by the creeps and this one damages creeps if you go near them. and not to mention the additional damage this one's useful too. and i forgot to mention this one, you can have this...
1 heart of tarasque ( 1 vitality booster + 1 messerschimdt's reaver + recipe )
and...
1 cranium basher ( 1 mithril hammer + 1 gauntlets of ogre strength + recipe ) you can use this so you can stun your enemies while attacking. useful against heros who are long ranged. ( they dont have a chance to run. ^^ )

and your final equipments are:
1 power treads
1 satanic
1 burize do kyanon
1 linken sphere or 1 battle fury
1 aegis of immortal
1 divine rapier or 1 radiance or 1 heart of tarasque or 1 cranium basher

after you get these items... use god strength and its time for hero hunting XD. dont forget to use stun.

Added Information:
i mentioned a thing about killing medusa without getting purged so here it goes...

you need
1 Black King Bar ( 1 Ogre Axe + 1 Broad Sword + recipe ) < --- this one has the AVATAR ( active skill ) ability which makes the hero immune against magic. Purge is a magical attack
1 Cranium Basher ( 1 mithril hammer + 1 gauntlets of ogre strength + recipe ) medusa is long-ranged stunning her while attacking her means death for her.

Strategy:
Medusa will likely wait for your god strength and purge you quickly. So you need to use shortcuts. Try puting one finger on letter "R" for God strength and letter "T" for Storm Bolt and point your mouse on her. press Num Lock on your key board and if the yellow light lights :P on the key board then the shortcut for BKB's AVATAR ability is enabled. Thats Number 4. so press "R" and immediately press "4". Trust me that blasted thing can react quickly. So you have your God Strength and Avatar ability. You need to react quickly becuase AVATAR only lasts for 10 seconds and God Strength 30 seconds. After using BKB press "T" for stormbolt and use it against medusa. then pawn her with your mighty God-like Strength. ^^

So thats it for my short guide for Sven. and i would like to see your reactions. ^^

obviously, your starting items are for 1v1 because it totals 3000+ gold. you only get roughly 500+ gold with 5v5 matches. so what do you recommend i should buy first? a boots of speed or a null talisman?

you've discounted the fact that with toughness aura and great cleave, sven is the devil's tough seige engine. getting it early will help you farm better, thus earning you more gold.

all in all, you presented a pretty decent build.

Getting toughness aura first is better.Not stats.Gives you more armor,therefore giving you a better boost in defence compared to other heroes.Hence,making your trips back to the fountain alot lesser and a better chance of surviving in battle.

I do not get godstrength at lvl 6.I recommend around level 9 or 10.Why?Mana pool isnt sufficient.You do not aim for heroes kills at early game.And also,you do not take the risk to open your godstrength,and start hitting towers whether alone of with creeps.

A pretty decent guide like grand said,but,can be improved on certain areas.Good job.

Nope, stats and storm bolt are best in the beginning. Seeing as Storm Bolt is Svens only harassment, he must use it as much as he can. There is no point for Toughness Aura in the begining because no-one does alo of damage yet.

There are a few things i should point out:
1. First item IMO should be Ring Of Health, or if you cant afford it, buy Ring Of Regeneration. It is best not to spam Storm Bolt in the very begnning, and because Sven is melee, it would be hard to harass other heroes. Against a range hero in a lane, would mean Sven most likely would get hit more, and therefore you would need a boost in HP.

2. Gods Strength should be trained at level 10 and 11. At level 6, if you do train it. The most likely experience would be this:
-Go to the back of the enemy.
-Activate Gods Strength.
-Go up to enemy, and attack.
-Once enemy starts to run, use Storm Bolt.
-Attack enemy.
By this time, you wont have enough mana more to use another Storm Bolt, and most likely the enemy wouldnt be dead by this moment and they would run away, with more mana, using a Storm Bolt would of course stop this. Skills should go like this:
1. Storm Bolt
2. Stats
3. Storm Bolt
4. Stats.
5. Storm Bolt
6. Stats.
7. Storm Bolt
8. Stats.
9. Great Cleave.
10. Gods Strength.
11. Gods Strength.
12. Great Cleave.
13. Great Cleave.
14. Great Cleave.
15. Toughness Aura
16. Gods Strength
17. Toughness Aura.
18. Toughness Aura.
19. Toughness Aura.
20. Stats.
21. Stats.
22. Stats.
23. Stats.
24. Stats.
25. Stats.

3. No point getting BattleFury because Sven already has Cleaving Attack. Better of course to get Linkens Sphere so it can stop Purge.

Good guide, but try to format everythign and include some pictures. With Sven, I don't go stat...this = my build:
1. Boots of Travel
2. Mask of Madness
3. Cranium Basher
4. Hyperstone
5. Heart of Tarrasque
6. Buriza do-Kyanon
Why? First, Sven does not have movement speed to catch the enemy if he doesn't Bolt. So....you use Berserk, pummel the shit out of the hero. So, since you have Boots of Travel, you can push like mad and also chase a hero nicely.
I don't get Stats in beginning, as (some people should know by now) I prefer farming over slaying. So I max Storm Bolt, Great Cleave, then Toughness Aura. I learn his ultimate post-haste, but I don't use it until I get my Hyperstone OR Crystalys.

lol? if this guide is for ver 6.27b , then i mus say ur a friggin' n@@b

also, since ur going hero hunting, y not jus get threads earlier??

anyway, i tnk radiance dun help much, get something tat would enhance at least 1 aspect of ur hero... cleaving is ald owning, dun bother getting any aoe dmg..

i added radiance because if ur the one being mobbed by the creeps u dont have much of a chance in killing them in a matter of seconds. it would take a lot of time if u dont have radiance. cleaving attack (level 4) has only 40% splashed damage. if u want to kill them off easily without much time u need about at least 1k+ damage and u can only obtain that if u activate god strength. and u will certainly waste ur skill just by killing those creeps. thats why i added there that u have a choice on using it if ur mobbed. -_-" and about geting god strength on level 6 i added that becuase u dont know when ur opponent will try to backstab u. thats pretty annoying because ur levelling up at the creeps... u start pushing the tower... then an enemy sneaks behind your back and start attacking u. any1 would like to have the first blood becuase it gives you extra 200 gold. so what im saying is u should be prepared for the attack and have god strength at the beginning. afterall, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. ^^... and ahkebv86 if u dont like my strategy on medusa heres another one... u need 1 linken sphere and anything u like. u just need to use god strength and start pawning her. if she tries to purge u that wont work because the linken sphere will block it. and about ur comment on getting treads earlier... have you typed -ms at the early part of your game? you will notice that sven's movement speed is 345 and thats with boots of speed. thats pretty slow... and if u put treads you will just go slower... and watch who your calling noob here... do you think you can catch heros with lame speed? even if you have stun you wont be able to catch them! and about the first equips... i didnt say you have to buy them in one go... thats in order dude... boots of speed -> 2 null -> helm of dominator... and i only included battle fury because if you dont like to get linken sphere its an alternative and it also has damage... and saint about the "mana pool"... you have 2 null talismans and u add stats... that would solve ur problem... and its your decision what to choose afterall, this is just a guide for beginners like me ^^ and IMO you dont need tougness aura because of your hp... and cleaving attack because if you concentrate on 1 creep only thats better because u have a higher chance on getting the gold...

cute guide. though it needs some work overall still alright
bolt is first
next stats? nope get cleave think about it if ur playing against nukers u cant really farm that well and getting last hits is tough. so cleave helps u can hit a nearer creep and the other 1 dies.

horcrux Registered User Last Online: 05-18-2006 12:17 PM Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 10 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts iTrader: 0 / 0% Points: 5,512.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,512.00 Donate	Re: A Guide for Sven ( Rogue Knight ) i added radiance because if ur the one being mobbed by the creeps u dont have much of a chance in killing them in a matter of seconds. it would take a lot of time if u dont have radiance. cleaving attack (level 4) has only 40% splashed damage. if u want to kill them off easily without much time u need about at least 1k+ damage and u can only obtain that if u activate god strength. and u will certainly waste ur skill just by killing those creeps. thats why i added there that u have a choice on using it if ur mobbed. -_-" and about geting god strength on level 6 i added that becuase u dont know when ur opponent will try to backstab u. thats pretty annoying because ur levelling up at the creeps... u start pushing the tower... then an enemy sneaks behind your back and start attacking u. any1 would like to have the first blood becuase it gives you extra 200 gold. so what im saying is u should be prepared for the attack and have god strength at the beginning. afterall, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. ^^... and ahkebv86 if u dont like my strategy on medusa heres another one... u need 1 linken sphere and anything u like. u just need to use god strength and start pawning her. if she tries to purge u that wont work because the linken sphere will block it. and about ur comment on getting treads earlier... have you typed -ms at the early part of your game? you will notice that sven's movement speed is 345 and thats with boots of speed. thats pretty slow... and if u put treads you will just go slower... and watch who your calling noob here... do you think you can catch heros with lame speed? even if you have stun you wont be able to catch them! and about the first equips... i didnt say you have to buy them in one go... thats in order dude... boots of speed -> 2 null -> helm of dominator... and i only included battle fury because if you dont like to get linken sphere its an alternative and it also has damage... and saint about the "mana pool"... you have 2 null talismans and u add stats... that would solve ur problem... and its your decision what to choose afterall, this is just a guide for beginners like me ^^ and IMO you dont need tougness aura because of your hp... and cleaving attack because if you concentrate on 1 creep only thats better because u have a higher chance on getting the gold...
