You all may ask, why not ulti at level 6? Personally, i feel that the ultimate of the drow ranger is pretty lousy. It is only useful in pushing, but you don't need to push in early game, so that point is better well spent on silence when all the intel heroes get their ultimate spells.

Another thing you all may ask is, why STATS! its pretty simple, better stats means 2% Attack Speed Bonus + 2 Damage + 38 Hp + 22 Mana Cap(i think) + 0.3 Armor. If you multiply all that by 5. You get an ultimate orb that costs 2300 gold! Think its worth it now? Anyway, Drow Ranger has very weak health, so its highly suggested to get its health up high ASAP to survive the early game.

Don't think you could ever reach item 6, unless you are really owning. Anyway, at early game, if you are short of cash to buy the stuff like boots, buy some branches and stuff like that for a good boost at the start of game, you can sell them off later, they are penuts in mid game.

You might want to slip in a Lothars Edge after treads if you are on the losing side of the battle in early game. It would help you to escape and to sneek up on people for kills.


Generally, use the frost arrows only on heroes or if you are fighting roshan or pushing desperatly. If not its a rather waste of Mana, better used for silence.

Noticed no orb effect items on the list? It is because it would clas with the precious frost arrows when activated, if you insist on an orb effect, i would defenitly suggest sange & yashsa with drow ranger. Fast attack speed + Fast movement speed + more attack + more HP + extra armor + 10% chance to main is really awesome.


Never pump the true shot auror too early or in mid game if you all are not pushing. This is because it is an auror so it gives your location away, thus sometimes giving your location away when your backstab. Only have it if you all are pushing but once you pump it you have to live with it. It does not significantly increase drow rangers attack in early game but it would in late game.


Move Speed : 300
Range : 600
Ability : Frost Arrows (Slows movespeed by 40% & attack speed by 20%)

All this means that you can easily keep chasing and shooting as the frost arraows will slow their movespeed qutie dramastically. Its also good to use if you are trying to escape, shoot an arrow and run!

Silence is good to stop channeling spells, it causes the heroes to waste their abilities like Crytal Maidens Ultimate. Silence it when its cast and it dissapears!

Think this should be sufficient enough for the meanwhile.

wow the guide is pretty good but having rapier without an aegis is kinda risky(but having those other 5 items might be able to handle at least 3-4 heroes at the same time but it depends on who u r going against) well other than that i still say the guide is good

my friend,you should list down getting lothar's edge and Black king bar..without either one,you're an easy food for other heroes especially disables and casters.And since you're dying that much,I dont even think you would get to farm those items out.One more thing,getting marksmanship doesnt help you push,it helps you farm.And farming is one of the most important points in dotA.Getting stat early game seems reasonable,but I usually choose to raise stats or true shot aura base on where the game is going.

My item build that works against pro's would be lothar's edge AND black king bar.YES..TWO OF THEM..I wont bother trying to explain,try experiencing it yourself.hehe!you'll seriously pwn.From there,you can get items such as butterfly or burize easier.

BKB is a bit costly for drow. why BKB when you have silence? Lothars was somewhere inside there as well... And there was a typo about the rapier. It should have been a lothars, then replaced with Rapier when owning.

i dont get it. why should some1 skill the stats 1st? every ability is better than the stats. (IMO)

Not really with drow ranger.. There is no need to get silence in level 1-5. Simply because it only lasts 3 seconds. So you only use it for defensive purposes or when you are going for hero killing.

you people shouldent buy expensive items so fast...buy some cheap shit that gives you +17 dmg and some agility...then sell it and buy something good. Dont go saving for something you might not even get.
