ok i have followed the guides to makeing a server but i get stuck when it gets to the point that i have to use MySQL. can someone help me please?

also im totaly new to this private server thing, so for a while its just going to be me useing it till i figure out everything.
can someone point me in the right direction to change the server so i can edit the amount of levels in game and everything.
