I'm having problem with my 2-years old HDD - naturally not serious, but I really need advise - is it going to die soon? I had a lot of data stored in it, and if it'll die soon, I have to replace it before all my data are lost. The several errors are:

VERY SLOW loading folder with plenty of small files (Images, documents)

VERY SLOW responding to file-select, random happens

Installed programs / games after some times running well become weird (Loading slow, sudden crashes, unknown error not happened before...)

I did Hard Disk checking frequently and the problem won't get fixed...

Also a quick question: I'm running a 160 GB HDD (The one is having problem) with another 320 GB HDD. Is it safe to replace it with larger size (I.E 500 GB / 1 TB), or should I just use a new 160 GB HDD?

Buuuut...we just got a new comp and the parents are a little touchy about me using it. There's SO many freakin' passwords for everything. And we got this "NetNanny" thing. How can I get around these things? (BIOS password included). Note: I just need to get AROUND the passwords, I do NOT want to remove them.

I had a problem with my computer recently, that the computer won't turn on after I press the power button. Usually I just unplug the power and replug it a few times and it turns on. So i've been ignoring this problem for a while.

Today, my computer got completely screwed, no matter how many times I replug it, it never starts up. Here's the problem:

I press the power button.

Computer whirls.

All fans starts spinning like crazy.

CD ROM beeps a few times/lights up.

That's it, then the computer screen stays black like the computer was never turned on, the keyboard's LED lights won't flash, the whole computer just won't start. I kept the computer like this for a long time, still nothing happens. The only thing that starts when I press the power button are my fans and my CD ROM.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to solve it? I need an answer desperately, please reply ASAP.

+Rep and donate to whoever can solve it.

All Wireless. No wires used, except for an Ethernet and a cable going from a satellite to an adapter, to the Ethernet. It really isn't Satellite internet, but it's this new technology that uses Radio Waves.

Now to my question.

Is there any way to minimize latency and make speeds constant and efficient? Is there a way to keep downloads to a limit? I think there's a 250GB Download limit, so it doesn't matter, but I'm not sure if it's that big.

Thanks.

It keeps popping up "Can not run multiple instances of Soldier Front (2)". My old computer has a really low graphic card by intel. It works on that one. I have tried everything except for formating. COD4: modern warfare WORKS! Like works flawless. Modern warfare 2 works also! but the text are having glitches. (its all messed up. if you wanna hear about it. Go to the steam section) :focus: So that really is it. I can play BattleField 2, AVA, CrossFire, Combat Arms, WolfTeam, Gunz, GunBound, Drift City, COD4, Modern Warfare 2(text issue), CS, CS:S, HL, HL2, and all the valve games. except for L4D 2 cuz i didnt download yet, i just bought it.:eek3:

Problem My Computer always Freezes, BSOD

My computer keeps freezing at random times, mostly 5 seconds after it loads to the desktop. Then, I have to manually restart by holding the power button. It freezes a couple more times, then it runs smoothly till I shut down which is in about 4-5 hours. Also, I sometimes get BSOD'd, with some really random errors like Bad_Pool_Header and this resource tried to do something..

I'm running on Windows 7. Here's a Belrac scan on my computer info.

Also, if you could help me instantly or on AIM or a chat please do.

My Email/skype is pudgehero@yahoo.com
My AIM is Vietboi415

I would really like to fix my problem. Oh yeah, and after I manual restart.. It freezes at the HP screen at boot. Then I restart again and it's fine. If you need anymore info, just post here, PM me, or IM me. Thanks.

Edit : I've tried to reformat.. but it doesn't work. I'm sure it's not my OS because I had Vista and it would always freeze too, but no BSOD, just freezing. Then I thought upgrading to Windows 7 would help, but it hasn't. Just freezing and BSOD. It happened after about 2 weeks with windows installed. The first 2 weeks were very smooth.

So I'm repairing a laptop for someone right now, and I installed like every RTL8187L driver after another on Windows 7 32bit.
I didn't get any of the drivers to work.
There's no red X on the interface in the hardware manager, however it won't find any access points. Windows 7 just keeps suggesting me to check the cable connection of that wireless adaptor.

It's definately an RTL8187L:

Did anyone else run into this problem and knows a solution for this?

The Notebook is an "One A6012" if that matters, and it's not mine.

---------- Post added 10-30-2009 at 03:12 PM ----------

Fixed it.

Solution:
Install drivers in Vista compatibility mode.
Kaspersky must not be active during installation.

I had to entirely reinstall Kaspersky, so probably some settings fine tuning, but it took me long enough to figure. And instead of playing with all the settings I just decided to entirely uninstall kaspersky to check wether it's a kaspersky issue after all or not.

Closed.
