| Registered User | Guild Wars Information I created this little bundle of information for anyone that doesn't have the intelligence to go to the website and find it out themselves. This'll have the System Requirements, whether the game is p2p or f2p, some links you should visit, and other things. System Requirements (Taken off the WEBSITE) Minimum System Specs:Took me two seconds to find that out. f2p or p2p After purchasing the game there is NO monthly fee. None, not ever, natta. They'll never charge a monthly fee. Is this game an MMORPG? In a sense. It's a CORPG, which I translate two ways. Competitive Online Roleplaying Game and Cooperative Online Roleplaying game. What's the difference between Guild Wars and other online games? There are many differences but the main difference is the instancing. Every area, except cities and outposts, are instanced. Once you leave a city/outpost you and your team gets an area all to yourself. It pretty much means you'll never meet anyone outside of your party. How many people play Guild Wars? Last official count was a million but it's gone up a lot higher then that. Is there seperate races you can chose from? At the moment no. But future expansions will probably add them. Does Guild Wars have any expansions? One is coming out in April and will add a lot more exciting things to the game, including larger scale territorial combat, two new classes, hundreds of new skills, items, and a new land to explore. The expansion is called Guild Wars: Factions. Will I have to pay for this expansion? Of course you will. Running a game this size costs money, and to make up for a lack of monthly fees they're supposed to release expansions, or chapters as they're called, every six months or so. Will the new chapter require the original game? Not at all. The next chapter can be played as a standalone game. Mind you, you won't be able to enjoy everything the game has to offer then, but Factions is an entire game all on its own. What is ArenaNets stand on hacking, botting, and cheating? They have absolutely no tolerance of it. This is the hardest game to hack/bot in that you'll ever come across. Thousands upon thousands have been banned because of hacking or botting due to ArenaNets anti-cheat system which no one has any real info about yet. Be confident that you won't meet any cheaters in this game. Does this game have PvP? Yes, and it has arguably the best PvP in the world. You can enter a random arena, a team arena, or even try your hand against the big boys in tournaments. If you're into PvP, then it's really hard to hate this game. The game is called Guild Wars, does that mean you can create a guild? Yes, and that's the best part of the game. Forming your own guild can be a little expensive at times, but you can invite people who are not into a guild into your own and participate in tournaments and events for cash prizes. If you press the "B" key in game you can also see some of the top guilds battling it out in the arenas. You can also buy a Guild Hall and design your own capes. Is Guild Wars challening outside of PvP? Yes it can be very challenging. Each profession has many skills, but you can only take eight with you at a time. This means you need to strategize with your team mates. A team that doesn't work together in this game will lose most of the time. If you don't like to strategize your attacks, then this game is not for you. What are the available class/professions?
Is there crafting, fishing, swimming, mining, mounts etc. in this game? None of the above. Mounts in an instanced game would be pointless and I do not know when or if they'll add any of the others. How's the community? It has it's bad spots. Because the game has no monthly fee, a lot of kids came to this game. However, it's a lot more mature then World of Warcraft if you've played that. In different terms WoW is like a first grade child and Guild Wars is a college professor. How's the in-game economy? It can be really screwed up at times but at other times be completely fine. You know, kind of like our real life economy. Do updates take long to download? Not at all! And unlike other games out there, you don't need to hunt down the update. Guild Wars uses streaming updates, so if there is any they'll update while you're playing the game and without disrupting your gameplay. This'll allow you to spend more time gaming and less time on [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. (haha) Can we play together some time? Sure, I'm an Elementalist/Ranger and my name is Palin Garrde. Add me to your friends list and we'll kick some ass. Anyways, I'm sure I forgot something so I'll add more to this later. I typed this out of boredom and because someone below asked if the game was p2p or f2p. Here's some links you should visit if you want more information on this game or if you have already purchased it. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (great Guild Wars info site) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (another great info site) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (useful little program. check it out) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (get this tool if you're serious about being the best) I did not make any of those tools nor did I have any role creating those websites. They were created and are owned by the people who obviously made them. I don't take credit for any of those. Just trying to stop those idiots who like to find topics like this and say "oh noez!! you shuld give creddits!!" I just hate guys like that. ;) Well that's just about it. Again, I know I missed something. I'll add more to this when I figure out what it is. Last edited by Aydrian; 03-12-2006 at 08:55 AM. |
