| Banned | Should I Get it? I was thinking about starting another MMORPG, and this was the first thing that came to mind. I've already tried Maplestory and Rose, which didn't really appeal to me. I was looking at some of the videos and screenshots for Guildwars, and it sort of caught my attention. Heres where you guys come in: Is this game any good? Is there any monthly fee? And my last question is, which of the 4 that are currently out do I get? Please help me out. Thanks! |

| The Vindicator | Re: Should I Get it? You cap at level 20 so that people aren't owning you just because they are 700 levels higher than you. This game is built ontop of strategy, skill, and intellect, this eliminates being 1 hit K.O.ed by some noob who just happened to play for 6 years and is level 100. There are no montly fees, only the fees for the games themselves EOTN is an expansion for prophecies, so don't buy it by itself. I would go Prophecies (complete the game) > Factions > Nightfall. Prophecies has a nice long story line, its hard to level up or raise money in this one, but after you complete it, you have a good view of the game, you have had experience with skills and such. Factions, fast money, fast leveling(infact, I got level 20 before even leaving island), quick story, but has lots and lotys of good PvP features including skills and characters, Alliance battles. Nightfall, Medium-Fast leveling, HUGE sums of money, relatively long story, shorter than prophecies though, has interesting new characters, and plenty of new skills and the addition of heroes (companion NPCs) Hope I helped |

| Registered User | Re: Should I Get it? "EOTN is an expansion for prophecies, so don't buy it by itself" actually its an expansion for all 3 games not just Proph... like Vindicator said dont buy EOTN or you wont be able to play it since it require a level 20 char from one of the other game... |

| Registered User | Re: Should I Get it? The level cap never changes well I mean has YET to ever change from it's original 20. I doubt if they make anymore expansions after they finish Guild Wars 2 they'll change the cap. But Guild Wars 2 itself is will apparently totally revamp the game and possibley the cap. On a side note I got Prophecies before the rest and I found that if you weren't familiar to how every other mmorpg starts off with the talk to the first trainer your better off with Nightfall or Factions. The tutorials in both take you through every single step for those who are just starting and can be skipped for those who are to leetsauce to stay in Shing Jea and Istan for too long. On a side side note Nightfall is probably easier because Togo's bald head aggroes enemies throughout the whole game. Whatever you chose have fun. Last edited by sokkyu; 11-20-2007 at 08:20 PM. | Registered User | Re: Should I Get it? Personally, to get the maximum fun out of buying one game, I would personally choose Factions because of the alliance battles. These battles are very fun (when there are people) and it offers the best PvP experience if you don't have a high ranked guild that GvGs all the time. And if you have no idea about the starting 6 characters, here's an overlook. Warrior: your basic tank, it has lots of stances to help reduce damage, deflect damage, etc. people like warriors in their teams because it just doesn't feel right without one Elementalist: your basic nuker, controls the fire, wind (lightning), water, and earth. Many area-of-effect attacks. people like elementalists in groups also, because AoE = good Monk: yeah, your basic healer. everyone loves them. need I say more? Necromancer: a necromancer does exactly what you would think. he can raise an army of dead things, he can curse his opponent so bad they will start to cry, and they can eat your blood. my favorite character =) Ranger: your basic ranged-attacking character. they are loved because they can cripple the opponent, making them unable to escape, they can shoot multiple arrows at once, and they can tame animals to have a trusty animal companion! Mesmer: every character will start to cry if they run into a mesmer during PvP. a mesmer can ruin someones day by making them think twice before attacking, or casting that spell. Here's an example of what i mean: a monk and her group runs into a battle, not noticing a mesmer standing to the side. the mesmer casts "backfire" on the monk (a skill that hurts a character every time they cast a spell, and the amount it does is ALOT compared to other damage). so now, the monk either casts a spell to heal her teammate, and kill her self, or not cast anything and wait for backfire to ware off...and let her teammates die. |
