| Registered User | Re: Never Played Guild Wars Well to say if it's good or not, thats personal preference..i like the game but you might hate it once u play it...there's no guarantee. The game should be bought in a local gamestore, it shouldn't be too expensive...but once u bought it, it's free forever...no monthly fee's or any of that bullcrap. You can always ask a friend or someone u know for a Trial key if they have one so u can try out the game for 14 days or 10 hours...(whichever u reach first) and see if u like it :) |

| Lurker | Re: Never Played Guild Wars Trials are always good fun. I rather blindly bought Guild Wars on a whim, and got lucky. It's a nice game, and a good break from FPS's and such if you're looking for something fresh (this coming from a Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six fan). The PvE's nice, but take your time in the beginning, as once you go to the post-searing Ascalon (I'll leave it to another member to give the whole story on this) the AI's aggression and tact increases exponentially. The PvP is nice, requiring tact and lots of experience. Don't worry if your character gets nuked the first hundred times in combat, kepp experimenting, find the mix that suits you. Another nice thing about the PvP is that all players are the same level, no matter what. Upgrades to your character are easily achievable thanks to the faction points (a flawless victory nets about 300 of these I think, and most skills and items cost only 1,000. Flawless victories are easy to net when facing AI in the PvP training). There is no "Uber Build" and it really does take team work to win a match. Guilds regularly recruit in the PvE so you can disregard whatever people say about the community not being "warm and friendly". Most guilds are full of kind, open individuals. I've only been called a "Noob" once in the entire three months I've been playing so far, and I get about a hour in daily. Good game, recommend it. |

| Registered User | Re: Never Played Guild Wars Guild Wars is a very great game. Once you buy it, you don't have to pay any subscription fees, so you can play as much as you want, for as long as you want. And as Corpheus said, there is no 'uber-build', all of the builds that I've seen have some weakness that will mess them up if someone comes across it. I've lost my GW CDs, and I plan on soon downloading the client from them here pretty soon, because I am missing the free play. |
