Question About Factions

Does Guild War Factions require the original Guild Wars to be installed? Or can I install JUST Guild War Factions? I'm asking because I plan on buying Factions.

You really should check the website for this. No, you do not need the original GW to play Factions. You just won't be able to have the things that the original GW provided.

Ah I just found it in the FAQS section. So.. If I got JUST factions I would be bound to only two classes? What would I lose?

I think the only things ur going to lose, is like some of the places, items, skills, etc in the first Guild wars:Prophecies. Not sure, but all i know is that getting factions, might be fun because there is more skills, items, places, monsters, etc then the Guild Wars:Prophecies.

If you link your Factions account with your Prophecies account, you won't lose anything, and I think the two accounts will be molded into one, only with 8 characters?

Don't repeat what I just said, because I'm not even 10% sure it's true, but because of random speculation I've heard through Prophecies lead me to believe the above.

with factions by itself, you get the standard 4 character slot, and all of cantha. but you will not be able to go to the first world. If you linked it to a prohpecies account, you will get 6 character slots and go anywhere u like.

If you have just factions, you'll have 4 character slots that can only access cantha (no tyria).

If you have JUST Prophicies you can use 6 classes (4 character slots)
If you have JUST Factions you can use the original 6 + 2 new classes (4 character slots)

If you LINK both games together, you get 6 character slots, all can visit both game worlds, and your characters can get skills from both worlds, including the 'duplicates'. You lose 2 character slots (6 not 8) but you have access to a huge amount of stuff, both chapter's missions, both skills (skills from either area work in either area; they aren't limited per area), and freedom to bring any character to any world.

*If you don't link then your faction peeps can never go to tyria, and your prophecy peeps can never goto cantha. (I know you can have prophicies and link to factions, but I DONT know if you can start with factions then link up prophicies later. check the official webpage for that)
