| Lurker | Re: Tips Easy starting classes - Monk - Everyone wants you. Gets you a good feel of how HP and EN works. GW is more like an action game than your traditional MMORPGS in that respect, you die FAST. 0.5 seconds or less against a good spike team (even NPC mobs).
General Tips:
Appended: As for rare items. The color code is white - blue - purple - gold - green. (Though often times golds sell for more than greens) With the addition of nightfall, it's a good idea to always identify the drops you get as even really low leveled weapons can have good inscriptions. Some of the more sought after weapon upgrades are 15^50, 20/20 sundering, Max Vamp, +30 HP for melee weapons, and Zealous Bow Strings. If you have a question, don't hesitate to do a price check in game before deciding on a price to sell things. Also, never sell Green items to merchants and always try to sell a gold to another player before. As for runes, inscriptions, and insignias, there are rune traders you can go to check with to see how much the runes are selling for. Usually you should price yorus a bit below what the rune trader quotes you for. For dyes, the general rule of thumb is to keep black and white dyes. The rest is personal preference. | Registered User | Re: Tips I think the best advice for a game like this is obtained through experience. Just play around and check stuff out, make 2-3 Role Play chars, and the rest PvP. Use your Role Players to check out the game and learn the basics, how stuff works. Use the PVP to experiment with skills, and you can delete and re-create your PvP characters at any time if you want to experiment in other classes. BTW, monk actually is one of the harder classes and i wouldn't recomend it untill you've seen how stuff works in some of the harder, 8player team areas. The point of the monk is to support every player on your team and keep them alive. keeping 7 players alive is a sorta tough job, and alot of people get pissed off at you if they die, even if it's not your fault. But really, every class has it's ups and downs. What i did was, i went to the guildwars.com website and just read the character descriptions. Whichever character sounded more interesting i chose as my first. Just remember you can always ask questions, or look at sites, just ignore the *******s -_-'' |
