PVP

1 : Fireball
2 : Phoenix
3 : Immolation
4 : Meteor
5 : Meteor Shower
6 : Arcane Echo
7 : Ele Attunement or Mindburn
8 : Fire Attunement

(you can remove phoenix to give way for res sig... Immolation just pwns A LOT!)

For ToA (PVE)

1 : Fireball
2 : Phoenix
3 : Meteor
4 : Rodgort's Invo
5 : Meteor Shower
6 : Arcane echo
7 : Ele Attunement
8 : Fire Attunement

I like the PvE but the PvP one could be countered easily, due to the abundance of interrupting rangers, hammer warriors and mesmers. Swap Phoenix for Flame Burst. Or, swap Ele Attunement for, Glyph of Renewal. Renewal is so that it cannont be interrupted. It can also suprise the foe as they usually see meteor storm being cast.

i tend to stay at the back and only rush in when people starts to fight... sometimes my teammates think i lagged out or AFK

what happens when they target you first?

then they`ll have to walk at least 1 and a half aggro circle and they`ll encounter lots of traps on their way to me... we also assign 1 defensive mesmer (mesmer wont cast spells on random opponents but will only cast hexes on those that attack the ranger and me, he gets more kill that way). you should try playing with us just so you know what im talking about (on our side. that is)
