Help getting Gunbound Working on VmWare Workstation

Yeah, I got a linux comp and need help getting gunbound to work on my Vmware workstation.

When I load it it seems fine untill after gameguard comes on. Then, once it goes into dos these sandy colored panels come up and it has the same animation as gunbound. Soon after i minimize it and then try to go back and thats when Vm Workstation has an error.

Ive got:
2.66 ghz computer
256 mb graphics card
1gb ram
windows xp installed on the VMware Workstation, but it isnt activated... The cd is mine that i used, but i dont know how to activate it.
DirectX 9.0c is on there
Its a virtual 2gb hard drive that is almost full.
NO firewall on it. So thats not the problem :)

I dont know what the problem could be... My friend uses the same program on his comp which is a little bit crappier than mine to kill himself.

If anyone could help that would be cool, thanks. I want gunbound in my bedroom comp ;O Ive also seen the small tutorial here on how to set it up, thats what i used to do this.

Re: Help getting Gunbound Working on VmWare Workstation

Gunbound is a Windows ONLY program
Linux and Windows have VERY DIFFERENT COMP LANGUAGES
just like how u cant run a mac game on a windows (unless it is both)
My best thought is that linux is supposed to be a "developer" OS

Re: Help getting Gunbound Working on VmWare Workstation

nope man vmware and all that stuff is just Compatibility, and plz remember compatibility can never be perfect for all computers, and games. ANd gunbound edits the windows shell so wouldnt it edit the Vmware stuff???
Think

Re: Help getting Gunbound Working on VmWare Workstation

yeah i'd suggest running it on a comp with windows already installed instead of running it through Vmware, otherwise you'll have alot of complications since Linux isn't essentialy made to run games etc (well duh :P)

Re: Help getting Gunbound Working on VmWare Workstation

Hmm, interesting. I though VMWare couldn't run anything in D3D or OpenGL mode, and thats why GBWC or GPS wouldn't work on it...

Re: Help getting Gunbound Working on VmWare Workstation

well really im a tech noob lolz all i know is that compatibility will never be perfect, hundreds of years from now there will still be tiny flaws.
And platform overlap isnt really a good idea...
running windows on linux... ehh kinda gonna be slow. My reccomendation would be to get a game console or something, as its not worth it to buy a new computer to play 1 tiny game.
Good luck, and u dun have to take my advice as i have never touched a linux computer nor do i know anything about vmware besides it being a platform on platform thing.
