How To play GBWC if you're stuck with GBrev...

I was trying to figure out how to get onto GB WorldChampion recently because, as we know, ijji does a piss-poor job of managing and maintaining gunbound. I, for one, haven't felt like I was really playing gunbound since they forced me to switch to GB Revoluton. I asked how I could do this and was told "use a proxy server." Now I am reasonably adept at using my computer, but by no means am I as capable as many of the users here at GZP. I don't know how to actually hack, I just download the cts and trainers as they're released and so on.

If you're like me and need a step by step tutorial of how you can use a proxy server to trick GBWC into letting you register, this this is for you.

What is a proxy server? it is an internet server that basically accesses the rest of the internet for you and sends the information back to you. Thus, making it appear as if you're accessing the information from wherever the proxy is. Proxy servers range from transparent (your ip address can also be seen, and the server identifies itself as a proxy) to highly anonymous (the proxy server does not identify you or itself as a proxy). For this, a transparent proxy will work fine.

Now, there are security risks in using a proxy server in that the server is capable of intercepting and decoding secure information such as passwords or other personal information, but only if you send them through the proxy. this is pretty safe for low security passwords and information, such as your softnyx id and password, since few people have a vested interested in stealing your gunbound account. DO NOT LOG INTO YOUR EMAIL OR BANK ACCOUNTS THROUGH A PROXY SERVER UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY TRUST AND KNOW THE SERVER OWNERS/ADMINS.

So...

Before you mask your ip, you can download GBWC client and register your softnyx account.

Both of these can be done WITHOUT setting up a proxy server. I recommend doing this with your own direct connection since it should be faster than using a proxy.

now that you have the client and a softnyx account, its time to create a game id for gunbound world champion....but wait, it won't let you and redirects you to ijji's gunbound site. Well isn't that lame? time to use our proxy.

first, you'll need a proxy ip and port# to connect to. you can find some free proxy servers here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
once again, many of these ips are of unknown origin, so PLEASE DO NOT SEND SENSITIVE INFORMATION OVER THE PROXY. to save you a little time and trouble, these two IPs seemed to be the faster chinese proxys I could find and ended up using. Both are about equally fast, see what works best for you. You can also find other ones on the above site.

The steps I'll give are for Internet Explorer, the layout of menus is a little different for Firefox, but similar.

click on the "Tools" tab at the top of your IE window.
Select "Internet Options..."
Select the "Connections" tab
click on the "LAN Settings..." button
in the area labeled "Proxy Server" check the box that says "Use a proxy server for your LAN"
Then you can enter the ip address and port number in the appropriate fields.
(I would also recommend unchecking the "Automatically detect settings" box while you're doing this, just so internet explorer doesn't make decisions for you and circumvent the proxy)
Then press "ok" until you're out of the "internet options" menu.

Internet Explorer should now be connecting through the proxy server

NOW, you can create your game ID for Gunbound WC. Do so, and then go back into internet options and disable your proxy server connection, since you no longer need it.

Open your GBWC client, enter your softnyx id (the first username you made, can be different from Game id) and password and you can play GBWC to your heart's content.

I hope this helps some people, I know for many this is basic knowledge, but everyone's got to learn somehow.

Sometimes proxy don't work find another one. I used this one 58.222.254.10 port 3128
