Elemnium's Noob Questions

Hi, People at first I thought it would ruin my reputation to ask this but,
Since the last patch I have been unable to make more hacks. This has affected me greatly because I think people have lost faith in me.I hate tosay this but I need some help from people who have been successful in making mrs hacks. My problem is listed below.

Every time I edit a file and add the CRC number into the filelist.xml
it doesn't work and it really made me waste a lot of time.As you know all my hacks have loads of stuff in there so I have to change almost every item in the filelist.xml which is a real pain.

I've notice something though when I edit the abuse.txt and bgm
I didn't have to use any crc number to make it work...

So is there something I'm missing?
plz tell me asap & i give you $100 or points....

wow my first time using good grammar ;)
but seriously help me.

Re: Elemnium's Noob Questions

ok, what i have found is if you decompile a unedited system.mrs then dont edit anything, then look up the name of the file in the brute crc32. then click examine it will give you the crc code to enter once you have edited the .xml
as for editing it, well most people have already done everything that is possible but if you find something new, i salute you hope this helps

you have Brute crc32 right? if not this is crutial for the system to work
enter file name: find the file that you have edited
request crc32 (hex): the crc32 code that you get from examining an unedited .xml file (all of them are different
do it!: it will put the crc into the xml this may take 5-10 minutes and it may say its not responding

cheers!

Re: Elemnium's Noob Questions

Have you not had any luck with my tutorial - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ?

You may also want to check you're using the most up-to-date files to do all your editing on.

Are you really asking this? There is a HUGE difference.. here goes:

Hash tab is a shell extension which can calculate the hash value of a certain file. The type of hash we are after is the files CRC32 hash. That's all it does. Display the four byte value of the CRC32 hash.

BruteCRC not only calculates the hash (as does HashTab) but can calculate the extra bytes needed to match another CRC32! It also adds those bytes to the file (open up any file you've hashed, and right at the bottom are those four extra bytes).

You need BruteCRC to match the current hashes, and you don't actually need HashTab (unless you are only using BruteCRC on the filelist, and using HashTab to add the new values).

Re: Elemnium's Noob Questions

You don't take the crc number from the file you edited it and change filelist.xml. You GET the crc code FROM filelist.xml and paste that into brutecrc32 and change the crc of the file you edited. For example...

I edit zitem.xml

I go to filelist.xml and get the code for zitem.xml

I go to brutecrc32 and paste that code into the box and point it to zitem.xml

and continue on...
