Here is the first chapter. Please rate it with comments and suggestions Chapter 1: Departure Squall “We’re ready for take off!” said the captain of the airboat. The year is 1431. We are headed from the small island of Maple, to the bigger island of Victoria. Once there, you can choose your tribe: Warrior, Thief, Archer, or Magician. I am heading for the Warrior village located in Perion Desert. “Detach the tethers!” He yelled. 3 brute-like boys cut the ropes holding the ship to the harbor. I quickly ran and jumped on one of the loose ropes still attached to the ship. No, I wasn’t going to pay the 300 meso fee, and yes, I was a stowaway (I needed all the money I could get for armor and things). I could feel the ship being pulled away from the dock. It looks like a normal boat, except it had propellers to keep it in the air. And if the propellers kicked on while anyone was on the rope, they’d be doomed. I heard the motor warm up so I climbed up the rope as fast as I could. I glanced down to see the rope shredded. I looked up to see a passenger walking by and I ran behind the wall so he wouldn’t spot me. When he was out of sight, I went into the luggage room and stayed there ‘till the trip ended. At least that was my plan. Around 40 minutes into the trip, I was woken a tremble followed by some yelling. I opened the door and went back outside to see everyone looking at something. A massive storm was approaching fast. Everyone was on deck watching it. Except the captain, who ran inside to increase speed. But this ship isn’t very fast. I could feel the wind picking up. I wasn’t sure if it was from the boat or from the storm. The captain yelled “EVERYONE INSIDE!”. They did. I stayed outside. Something told me this wasn’t a normal storm. The next thing I knew, the storm was right above me. The wind held the door shut so I couldn’t go inside the boat. I hung on for my dear life. Then, out of nowhere, something happened. The wind stopped. The rain stopped. It even got pretty warm. But that wasn’t it. Something came out of the clouds. It wasn’t coming very fast, but it was going the speed of this airboat. It looked like another, rather small boat. But it wasn’t in good shape. The wood was cracked, sails torn, even the flag was messed up. Just then, I saw a creature emerge. It got bigger, and bigger. And something told me it wasn’t very nice. I pulled the door leading to the storage as hard as I could. It didn’t budge. I looked back at the thing. It just kept getting bigger, bigger, bigger, then it stopped. It must have been at least 5 times my height. From my view, it looked like an oversized silhouette. Then something popped out from its sides. They looked like….wings. Then I saw its arms. Huge, hairy arms. Then horns popped pout of its head. It then gave out a huge, haunting, roar. I’ve never heard it before. It was just me, puny little me, my small sword, and this thing. I’ve heard stories about these experiences. Except it usually occurs on the airboat going to the massive territory of Ossyria. Ossyria is a rather mysterious place. They have few human settlements there, but they don’t go very far. I’ve heard that the continent is home to hundreds of thousands of beasts. The one I was looking at is named Balrog Jr. It has been known to travel on little boats and invade airships. Its power is huge. Even Masters have trouble killing it let alone me. But if I wanted to survive, I had to fight. It opened its fanged-mouth and blew a huge blast of fire. At me. I grabbed my blade and ran. The flame scorched my pants. Then it lunged at me. I ducked quickly then attempted to stab its heart. I forgot to mention that their skin is tough. At least too tough for my sword. All I got was a huge lock of fur. It smashed into the door. From what I saw, Its giant horn almost stabbed the captain. It got a good look at all the people. Then it opened its mouth and inhaled. I immediately knew it was going to burn then. I had to think fast. After a few seconds of looking around, I saw it. The sail. I threw my sword at the rope attached to the sail. Miraculously, It sliced the rope, but my sword was now gone. The sail turned and the wooden part whacked that beast. Still, no sign of blood. It turned and glared at me. I knew that he was truly mad. Then its’ wing hit me. At least I think it was his wing. I flew back and hit the wooden banister. My leg was broken, and my head bleeding. It stood up, scratching its head. It inhaled once more. I tried to move, but a sharp pain jolted my leg. “Oh God, its too early for me to die.” I thought. Then a huge chunk of ice blasted its back. One of the crystals flew towards me. A few dots of blood was splattered on it. It turned around. I could see in his eyes that he was disappointed. He looked at me, said something I couldn’t understand. Then it jumped back on its boat, and flew off. The storm followed him. |
