Unplug from the wall? Or unplug from the box? I'll tell you my set up. I have my modem that my internet came with. I then have a router that puts out a wireless signal. My router and modem are connected. I have a USB wireless adapter plugged into my PC. I'm just wondering what to do from there.

how can i change my ip if im using wireless? Ive tried method 1 with out the disconnect modem thing but no luck.

You want to unplug your modem Power cord.
If that doesn't work just unplug your router also and try again.

lets change your ip then ;]

go to command prompt

(Windows key+R then type Cmd then enter)(or start,run cmd enter)

type
ipconfig/release
unplug modem powercord
restart your computer bamzorz new ip..
If the ip DIDN'T come back and you still don't have a internet connection
go to the CMD again and type
ipconfig/renew

If that didnt work go to
start
network
right click,properties
there will be a world with a X on it
click the X and it will restore your UP

the first one will work >.>

Or you can try using this batch,didn't work for me but who knows.. might work for you


echo ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /flushdns
echo ipconfig /release
ipconfig /release
echo ipconfig /renew
ipconfig renew

Remember when doing this you WILL 100% guaranteed to lose internet connection till you get your new ip back,so don't be doing anything important while doing this,and don't get scared
If any thing just unplug your modem and restart your PC and you will have your new ip and your sexy internets

if u have a static ip address, ur ip address wont change at all which most people will have.

if u have a dynamic ip address it will change, adn the steps above would work, but who the **** has a dynamic ip?

Well for a fact neally all of Australian homes have dynamic IP's
so ur a bloody moron on that fact.

Second it isn't hard to just simply look up IP CHANGER IN in google. BING you have an ip changer at ur dispoesel.
Static ips are normaly for ppl on fixed connections
so if ur US person with high class cable then ya ur most likely going to have a static ip.
but if ur with a low class company chances are you are going to have a dynamic ip.

Hell even Austalian cable is dynamic.

Well anyway, if you are still gonna flame about morons and such, lets make something a little clearer.

For people with Static IP:
This will not work.

For people with Dynamic IP:
Alright, so you are on dynamic ip. Nice. And?

For people with Dynamic IP using Routers:
Doing a ipconfig /(release/renew) isn't going to help you much. If you know what you are doing instead of blindly following instructions, doing a release/renew command will simply let you drop your LAN ip and let your router assign you a new one, which will probably still be the same LAN ip address, but thats beside the point.. What matters is your WAN ip, which HAVE to be dropped from inside the router configuration page, which a huge bunch of you probably gonna give up reading at this point. But then again, even if you released/renew your lease from your router configuration page, your ISP will assign you another one. Here, you can hope to get a new IP address, but chances are you are going to get back the same IP address, right down to the last octet. ISP dishes out IP address mostly based on your router's MAC address, and probably by "time". Different time/date will affect the lease you are going to get. So releasing/renewing it within a single day or worse, single minute, probably isn't going to help unless your ISP's dhcp is configured in another less efficient way.

For people with Dynamic IP but is NOT using Routers:
If you read the above, you can skip this part. Else, read the last few sentence above.
