Rip: Hd Dvd
On February 19, 2008. Toshiba issued a statment saying it would no longer develop, manufacture and market Microsoft's HD-DVD Players. The two-year Format war Between Microsoft and Sony was finally over.
This also affects Xbox360 OWner's as there is an add-on for the Xbox360.
Sow hat now? Is it still worth buying the Xbox360 HD-DVD drive? Or will it now switch to Blue-ray?
Questions & Answer's
Why is HD-DVD being killed off?
Having two competing, incompatible high-definition movie formats was always going to end in tears for one company - the market could only support one of them. The "format war" split the electronic and entertanment industries, with Blue-ray backed exclusively by Samsung, Sony, Devil, Apple, Warner Bros, Disney and 20th Century Fox, and HD-DVD backed by Toshiba, NEC, Microsoft, Paramount, Dreamworks and Universal.
All that the two-year squabble achieved was to create confusion for consumers, and annoy retaliers who ahd to waiste space and money stocking both formats.
