Wirless Controller reciever for windows

So Yesterday around 12:00 PM, a package came home. It was the xbox 360 wireless controller for windows. It worked well. This morning it worked but when i tried to play after school it suddenly d/c my controller. i tried to reconnect and resync it but it didnt work. so i unplugged the receiver and pluged it back in. That made it worse, my computer didnt recognize it, so it didnt connect to the pc. I re installed the drivers, that didnt work either. I got frustrated and constantly unplugging and plugging the usb from the receiver.

Any ideas if its the pc or the receiver? This would be B.S. if its the receiver.
[RECEIVER] oh and yes theres no problem with the controller. The last time i saw it, the battery level was at medium
