I'm quite looking forward to this, though I don't have much rep at all, doesn't matter since I don't play these games. However, like r2k said, the thanks system kinda needs to go, I can't wait for it to be gone. I like the idea amonkeyz came up with, stuff the mods sticky should get a +rep from the mod.
Out of curiosity, though I doubt it, will a premium members +rep be worth any more than a normal members?
Only asking because I know they get a lot more benefits, just wondering if that's a possibility or not.
I will think about that.

I couldn't agree more. Having two credibility systems just doesn't work. The larger button will be used more often. Although, removing the thanks system might be unfair to those who legitimately earned them.
So, for the moment, it might be good to just remove the Thanks button but keep the Thanked: field displayed on the user info. Hence:

I believe having these solid textual information would be vital in the success of this system. Should the time come when the rep system becomes a common practice, then those muchly thanked users who really contribute should have plenty of reps and the Thanks system can be completely scrapped.
For now, the target should be awareness. Users must know this rep system exists. Although, this might backfire and cause a repping spree, you can just always increase the requirements.
I don't like this at all, I've been a member at GzP for two years, although I wasn't on for a long time, and recently came back, I was legitimately getting posts, while helping others.
Now, if I help others, I'l basically have to TELL them to rep me since I helped them.
Not to mention people will abuse the reputation system and -rep someone for a stupid reason.
Edit: I just went to check my reputation.
Guess what? Even though I've helped a bunch of people, I've never received a +rep.
I've even gotten into one or two 'fights' and never got -repped for that.
My point is, the rep system is basically not even used.

You don't seem to have done much posting in two years, regardless of how long you may have been gone. There's a signature to put that in, for example, look at mine. Also, most people are aware of the fact the rep system is never used, but it's more efficient than the "thanks" system, that's why they're trying to get it used more.

I haven't posted much because I was gone for more than a year, and really, I find it difficult to post about something useful a lot of times. I would rather post something useful than just say the same thing the guy above me said when helping someone. If you go to the SF section, you would see that most people just repeat what somebody else said, which I don't really like to do >.>
Also, I'l get a signature when I feel like it. Not like I NEED one, since they're really just there to look pretty.
I just read some of the past few pages, so uh, I kinda get what's going on now >.>;
I was too lazy to read 11 pages when I posted my last post.

I was gone for a long time too, I post useful things, and do my best to help. I fail to see how being gone for a year should make any difference. If you're good at helping people, you'll almost always have something to say in the intentions of helping them. Also, don't just help people in one section, there's plenty of other sections with people what will +rep you.

I really just felt like saying I was gone for a year, it really doesn't matter, heh.
Yea, I know I can help other people in other sections, but I come here most to talk to players from SF, and help them.
I'd help in Drift City too, but that place is basically dead.
Well, I probably won't get to be able to go to 'level 2' anytime soon, not like I care that much, but I'l try helping out in other sections >.>;

You're reiterating points that have already been discussed. Read: we are well aware rep has not been used in the past - we are using it now and in the future. It's not rocket science.

Your reputation point will not be deducted if you add reputation to other users.
