10 reputation -_- pretty much no one gives rep, just give thanks. I've never even +repped people, only clicked on Thanks.
I'm thinking of possibly, 200 or so minimum post count, 1 year old account, and THEN you are allowed to apply for level 2 access, which can be evaluated by an admin/mod, or maybe even evaluated by people already in level 2.
Things like 200 reputation is ridiculous. I wonder what the percentage of people in this forum even have 200 rep.

They should just make post count and ban all spammers and leechers.... make it a IP ban the first time they do it.. if they did it on purpose that is.....RIDICULOUS i was going to get to 250 posts then gets bummed out by this.... :(

It was just a suggestion, so in cases like that, I guess also allow some applications (possibly in a different section, less views since it will likely be FULL of leechers) just in case random instances of people who are extremely helpful with low post count and/or members who have been members for a while and have forgotten their password.
I don't know, originally a random idea thought up in not even a minute.

Yes, at first this will be hard for everyone. Admins will start to give out reps to members who have been contributing and helping people since we have the most rep power at the moment. I will also increase the rep power to something higher at first.
For people who give negative rep power for no reason. I don't think that should be a big problem because they should have a very low rep power or even 0 so the reputation points that they take away will be minimal.
Also, to be honest most people know the current system is not working well and leechers can still get in those section easily. We have to start from somewhere and once we start to give out reputation points, then it will spread out pretty fast.
The thanks system is not as good because constantly I see members thanking other people for nothing and there are still bugs in that system.

I dunno... I was legitamtely gonna try to get to 250 posts and was trying to contribute a lot and not just be like those other leechers who make 50+ random posts a day just to get in. But the 250 Rep thing does sound a bit unreasonable to me.
Maybe make it 250 Thanks since people actually use that?

The issue with thanks is people can just go (against the rules) to make another account and thank every single one of their posts, making it easy. Or just have their friends do it and voila. Reputation is more accurate because of its limits.

I really wish it was time based, as in when you registered. Ive been at gzp for 2-3 years and its shocking that senior members cant atleast be able to view the section :/ Is there a possible way to change it to using gzp points to become a member?
