Gamespot has a Q&A with Crytek's Cevat Yerli about his upcoming game, Crysis, a PC exclusive sci-fi first person shooter from the makers of the original Far Cry. They go into detail about the graphics, DirectX, and Windows Vista. Crysis is primarily going to use the DirectX 10 API for performance boosts (Crysis also utilizes multi-core processing), though there will also be visual enhancements for those who've invested in a DX10 capable graphics card. Yerli tells us that "...for a long time, we ran the game only on DX9 hardware, even though people thought it was D3D10 [(Direct3D 10--another name for DirectX)]. You can be sure your high-end gamer rig will satisfy your expectations--but with D3D10, you will surpass them." Crysis is also taking advantage of Microsoft's XNA framework by using a unified input system. This means that, if you wanted to, you could hook up a 360 controller to your computer and your computer to your TV and play Crysis, out of the box, without any kind of special software. I think Yerli says it best: "No console game will be able to stand in comparison against that." ( keyboard and mouse is still the way to go ;) )

Crysis is slated for a Q3 2007 release.

That is true, but i think that is because with a computer that has Direct X10, Dual core processors, high end video cards etc... they will obviously surpase the ps3s and xbox 360s since consoles cost a fraction of what a nice gaming rig would cost.
