Homebrew Channel: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
-Homebrew channel, allows you to "Hack" your Wii and do anything
Bootmii: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
-Places homebrew channel before Wii system menu on boot process
-Allows full control over system files
-Allows you to "backup" your Wii system preventing bricking
BannerBomb Exploit: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
-Uses an exploit inside the systemenu to boot HBC directly from an SD card
-Makes the Twilight hack obsolete
USB Hard Drive Hack: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
-How to hack your Wii to work with a hard drive so you can store tons of data and play game backups
Just follow these simple instructions to install the Homebrew Channel without the need for Twilight Princess. (DO NOT ATTEMPT WITH FIRMWARE 4.2+)
*Downloads at bottom of post*
1. Get an SD card. If it has a private directory, rename it temporarily, e.g. to "privateold". Having other saved channels on the same card will screw it up.
2. Download aad1f_v108.zip and unzip it onto the SD card.
3. Go download the HackMii installer. Copy installer.elf to the root directory of the SD card, and rename it to boot.elf.
4. Press (Wii), Data Management, Channels, SD. Then insert the card. It should either pop up Load boot.dol/elf? or freeze.
5. If the installer loads proceed to install Bootmii and HBC, but don't install DVDx if you want to play backup games.
* If you encounter any problems loading the installer, don't try other versions (it won't help)
-The newer your Wii is the harder it is to install hacks, so keep that in mind when using the HBC. If you need help doing specific thing with your Wii such as using the USB Loader just post in this thread for help.
-Bootmii cannot be installed properly on newer Wii's however it can still be installed as an IOS.
-SDHC cards may not work with the HBC.
-Do not attempt to install the HBC with firmware 4.2 or higher, do not update to 4.2 or higher with HBC installed. (If you really need to, there are HBC apps that will safely update to the new firmware)

haha yeah ive had my wii softmodded for quite awhile, since like people used ocarina (soo old), but i still prefer to use back up launcher, because not only am i too lazy to put back ups on my external, i use my external for streaming anime and movies on my wii so its pretty packed already.
Softmod means you are changing the software only, the core components of the system to allow yourself to do things that you normally cannot. Hardmod is when you open the Wii up and solder a chip or cut a specific wire to stop protective hardware from working.
Softmod has an increased chance of bricking your system, rendering it useless. While hardmodding will not do this, if modded improperly you can destroy the hardware also rendering the system useless. Softmodding can be blocked with system updates while hardmodding is a bit more permanent, however it does not allow as much customization as softmodding.
If you are not familiar with electronics and working with hardware, I suggest softmodding as it is much easier. Installing the homebrew channel will not brick your system as it is installed as an external channel. Once the homebrew channel is installed you may be tempted to install other "hacks" whatever they may be they usually change core system components and that will cause your Wii to brick.
