| Lurker | Re: Are you using Windows Vista? I am using Windows Vista, Ultimate Edition, i havent had problems with it, but one of the things that you have to do, is add yourself as an administrator and make sure you add all owner accounts including NT admin accounts to your users/administrators folder, other wise you will not have complete control over what you may be able to install and what you may not, it has a super user account, which i have not been able to get to. In reference to gaming on this OS, well i have not experienced any problems with it, i downloaded and installed the most current direct x drivers and i am able to run games such as Fear, Farcry, Quake 4, and other shooter and startegy games. The shooter games are very 3d intensive and run very smooth once you install the latest and greatest direct x drivers. if anyone is interested on knowing the way it runs... i learned most of what i know about the OS from this site: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] you have to register, but it has presentations on how to work with the OS and what changes you can and cant make... well enjoy, if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.... i will be looking forward to answering them, if i can, if i cant, sorry, but i research it and give you answer when i find it. |

| Registered User | Re: Are you using Windows Vista? Omg i have been butting heads this damn os all night. A buddy of mine got a pre made tower with vista and wanted to downgrade to xp. Yeah i think i had a better shot at nailing jenna jameson last night. After hours of driver mishaps i was able to get all but 2 drivers to run under xp. Only bad part was it was the audio and damn chipset drivers i could not get to run. Fast forward several hours and a clean install of vista later. Guess it knew i tryed to get rid of it and fought me at every step. Good luck trying to find a vista usb driver for any pc addons. I went through 5 printers, 3 usb webcams and was unable to even find close to a vista driver for any of them. After all that even with a gig of dual channel ddr2 it ran as slow as my old damn 366mhz rig from like the 90's used to run. And the bsod's jesus christ i got one about every 20 minutes. I finally gave him back the pc and said to go take it back and ask for a non vista rig. Thank god my pc i built myself and runs xp still. |

| Registered User | Re: Are you using Windows Vista? I've tried Vista Business. It has nice features, such as previews of a page when you hover over them, but do you really need them? The only improvement I've seen was sharper images, possibly because of DX10 and a nicer Theme. Performance is based on your computer's hardware. The old windows xp drop-down menu shortcuts are gone and some other usual WinXP features. I've also had several compatibility problems and frequent warnings when running simple installations or programs. I recommend the Vista Upgrade Advisor to check compatibility problems you will get if you install Vista. I went back to XP, but I'll install Vista again in the future. |

| Registered User | Re: Are you using Windows Vista? I think Vista is visually great and is good for new computer users to have. But, WinXP is still good enough for now because Vista is not supported by numerous applications, which can cause poor performance of applications. |
