Tutorial How to Setup a Simple Ascent Private Server.

Current Patch: 2.4.3


You need to download the following:
The Source, "Ascent" - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
MySql DB, "Navicat"- [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
.NET Framework - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]


Download the Ascent Repack 7.8
Extract this to your C:/

Go into the "Tools" folder and then "Map Extractor enUS".

Copy and paste the "ad" and "maps" folder into your world of warcraft folder,
if there is no "maps" folder,then create it. Should look like this C:/program files/world of warcraft

Then run it, should take about 30min. and when its done,drag the "maps" folder into your Ascent Folder.

After that start "mysql" in the server folder.

After that start "apache_start" for the website.

Then run the ascent-logonserver and ascent-world.

Then change your realmllist to 127.0.0.1 and log on with
(to play offline)

Login to:
User:Admin
Pass Admin


To make it online you will need to make a dns.

You will need to make an account at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

After you have setup an no-ip dns.
click add
make up a name and thats it. then add that dns site

You will need to stay at that site and go to download
then you will need download the no-ip DUC and run it


next you need to go to start>run>
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
go to host.file

127.0.0.1 (dns here)
(internal IP here) (dns here)
(External IP here) (dns here)

after that you can basically run your server and it will be up.



How to edit your database:
First start Navicat.
you will need to log in
hostname: localhost
port: 3306
user:root
pass: ascent


For your Website. Which is what apache_start is for.
basically to edit this you need to to have a program like Dreamweaver to edit your website unless your on joomlah.


Also trouble with the patches.
currently if you want to play any patch you will need to go into your realm server.txt and change the patch number from 1 - 9999

So, I'm getting stuck at 'Connected' when trying to access the realm on the client. I've followed the directions here to the letter, aside from a crash in ad.exe that I cannot seem to avoid, any help?

you started your MySQL then logon server then world?

if you changed anything in your logonserver it will probably be wrong.
