Yes I used the search button, nothing useful there. No I dont need a guide to set up a offline server already done that. Anyway, back to business.
So here's the problem:
Branch: Trunk
Revision: 13392
Problem 1: Connecting to the sever using the (LAN) cable
What I have done to fix it: I changed only the Info in the Sclientinfo to match the server ip and name(basically 127.0.0.1, Test server)
Dertails: For now I'm hosting the server on my Notebook and everything works fine(All servers work and im able to play offline).
I installed the game on my other pc and connected both PC's with the cable. Changed the sclientinfo and tryed to connect to the server, but it failed(Guess it was to easy to be true).
So what do you think could be done to be able to connect?
I need a way for the server to recognise the incoming lan connection.
I want it to be offline LAN, I was able to make it work offline and only me playing(basically ip 127.0.0.1), but having trouble configuring so that other people on lan could join.
Yeah tried that, the problem is that I dont use a modem, just a cable to connect the pc's, the info moves directly 1-1. (no modem stop)
I also used ipconfig -all(cmd) to find out the IPv4 Address which was 192.168.1.102 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
Though when I connected the cable between the 2 pc's the IPv4 bacame 169.254.54.252 (subnet mas 255.255.0.0)
theres another cheaper way to connect w/o a router. use a vpn like hamachi, ask your friend to conenct to your hamachi to link a virtual LAN, then use the ip of the hamachi to connect.
