| Registered User | Go grips! x3 I just started ANOTHER ninja, as I screwed my previous one's stats. And yeah, I'm sorta trying out the grip built, and so far (till lv 11), its been real sweet and cool. But other then the very common (and very gay) tactic of waiting for your opponent to do a high delay move, like a mis-grip or a 3-4 basic combo then gripping his ass, are there any other strategies a ninja could use? I've seen ninjas with uber hax0r skills in combat, and even one which got teh top frag in a Solo Deathmatch, like, 21 kills? |

| Registered User | Re: Go grips! x3 yeah there is... its not that good but u can get a few kills with it. Big bunch of people - probably solo.. now therell probably be a mage icing everyone in the bunch. if there is one just grab him. ok now if there isnt go to the big bunch do your hold right click with normal weapon and u might get a hit X6 or so. u could kill someone... ive seen ninja's use this. *Also when i do jump + attack and hit their head ive like got 5 kills from this? was that luck or does it do high damage* Hope that helped |

| Registered User | Re: Go grips! x3 Ight', I'm somewhat of a ninja enthusiast. I've made an deleted every ninja build you could think of, and here's my advice: Grips - High delay moves are easy to grip, so those are definitly ones to look out for. If you get good enough, you can perfect the "Stun grip". It's impossible to dodge if you're good enough at it. The Stun Grip - Left click once, rush in, grip. It's that easy, or so it sounds. Lag, positioning, other players nearby can all screw it up for you, leaving you at the mercy of others with a 3s delay. It's good if you practice it, and annoying too. Use of your Special Attack - Hold down right click, let go, enjoy! My current favoritie ninja build is all on special attack and attack speed. It's very effective, you can do a similar tactic with the stun grip here, making it a "Stun-Special". All in all, for special attacks, wait for someone to do a 1s or higher delay, rush in, blam blam blam, he's dead. I can kill any Blacksmith in 3-4 combos with 161 special. Ninjas - 2, Swordies - 3 sometimes 4 if theyre a high level, ninjas and mages - 2-3, archers - 3. Its very strong, and easy to land. I personally like it better then grip ninjas. The Range - Not much to be said here, left click in big mobs to piss people off, and right click in even bigger mobs for nice 9x hit combos. Interestingly enough, range ninjas make for good summoners, as the huge hit combos you rack up can QUICKLY replenish your CP. Any other goofy stat setup, Life/Armor/Atk speed/Run speed/CP ect... - Any combination of the said tactics above. Have fun! |

But grip ninjas require alot of running speed, no? | |

| Registered User | Re: Go grips! x3 Well, not necesarily. While it helps, and I've seen plenty of ninjas with high run speed absolutely own my own ninja, It depends on your play style. Run speed grip ninjas are tough, because its hard to determine where someone will be, thanks to lag (If you plan on getting good at run gripping, a process where you chase someone down from behind and grip them), or whether you use it to sprint in to nab smaller, .5 second and lower delay moves. Attack speed, i believe, would help ninjas much better, as ninjas are the best available class for stun gripping, a guarenteed grip if you're good at it. Not only that, but slide *can* make run grip ninjas a bit useless, as you can slide to catch up to an opponent, basic him once, and grip. Attack speed, in my opinion, would be better all around then run speed for ninjas. I've even seen perfectly skilled ninjas with neither Attack speed nor Run speed boosts, as you can do fine without either. Takes a bit more skill, but then you can devote your stat points to more precious places, like increasing your ninja's other attacks (NEVER UPGRADE BASIC, even at 150, it's useless, i've tried. It will NEVER rival that of the starting damage that any other class initially has, and higher level armor on your opponents can make this problem even worse), or, if you're daring enough, upgrading your CP to summon those pesky dragons and golems (The route I'm taking). Remember, you get 200 CP per stat point, so plan carefully, youll need 4 levels to even just SUMMON a dragon (remember the innate cp decrease power users get!), and even more into CP to keep a higher level dragon summoned, unless you'd like to go for CP reducing items. Either way, its not essential to increase either speed stat, its more of a luxury, but with a bit of skill, i'd say they're pretty much useless stats. Go for increasing your Energy, attacks, or something much more beneficial. However, keep in mind that if you plan on using armor, weapons, and accessories with large atk speed decreases, you may want to consider upping your attack speed to compensate, but at high levels you can use the darkmoon weapons (I believe a .9 total atk speed increase, .60 from the stars alone), which would compensate as well, but only if you're planning on playing this game through level 50+. Personally, my ninja's going Full special, then 10 levels into CP, and the rest into buffing up her Life/Armor, since ninjas without life/armor boosts get killed rather quickly in higher level games. But yeah, you've open me to other factors as well, and I'm in a way, say, enlightened? Thanks for your point of view. Maybe I would create another ninja. Regarding your build... Don't you think depending alot on special rather risky? Even with your points into health and armor, opening yourself to grips might still hurt bad. Those with the higher walking speed might find you an easier target out of the lot. Don't you find it rather torturing to see your own kind stab your guts? I know how it plays and feels as I also used to have a special ninja too. It fights good, but somehow in the later levels, I find it not as tough as it used to be. How do you manage? EDIT: I was pretty much new to ninjas when I started this topic, so yeah, forgive my sudden throwing back of words. Last edited by AvaXerinity; 12-06-2005 at 03:18 PM.. | |

As for how I cope against others that grip, well, it's really all about keeping an eye out on your surroundings. I never use my special when there's a ninja stalking a mob - you're right, that's suicide. I either have to catch someone while the gripper is occupied, or the gripper themselves. The thing is, when someone grips me in the middle of my special (Lets use a ninja for example) I will stalk that person until they die. And they learn quickly too, as I have gotten good at dodging at catching people with that combo. The thing is, to catch a ninja trying to stun-grip my ninja, you have to be quick on the draw. To do it, you have to sacrifice a hit from the ninja, but make sure you're at a distance, so that they move in closer for another basic, and THEN the grip. Its easy, let the first hit you, block the next, let them miss, special. If they're close enough, then you just merely have to block, move, special, lather rinse repeat. It's odd, you end up playing a special ninja the same way as a grip ninja, just using a different attack. Using a grip opens you up to 20 million people trying to camp and special you when you're done, so personally I think it's safer this way anyway. I get gripped less often then Bsmiths, swordies, and mages anyways, so it doesnt bother me. Besides, the 3rd ninja strike reaches behind them, so most ninjas move in from behind instead of the side like they should anyway. Odd, I know, but moving in from the side forces you to wait longer, reducing the odds of moving in too soon and getting hit with the strongest of the 3 attacks. Basically, whoever grips me, dies using the techniques I mentioned above. To wrap up about attack/run speed - It's a luxury. It can be done without, it's just easier with it.
