| Registered User | Alas, it has arrived. Sorry for being late with the guide, but I've been busy, yah know? If you are new to rumble fighter, please view my previous guide that shows you the basics of the game. Also, the last guide was more informational, rather than instructional, but this one will have actual tips and maneuvers. I integrated this guide into both intermediate and pro because many of the advanced moves are directly related to the intermediate moves. If you already know some of this stuff, skip it and go onto the next thing. I highlighted the "lessons" so you can easily find out which stuff you know/don't know. ----------------------------- 1) Tips Predicting- The game requires a lot of predictions and assumptions. You have to think about what your opponent will do to succeed. (Note: All these tips are definitely helpful, but the results aren't 100% guaranteed. Some people will be too smart to fall for these tricks, and some people won't always do what you expect them to.) Hangar- Quite possibly the most hated map for beginners. To get down hangar... it's essential to know this trick. First when you go off the edge, slide tackle off (making sure no one is in front of you to cancel your move). When you slide tackle off the platform, it allows you to do 2 jump in mid-air, but in actually it requires 3 jumps. First jump sets up the direction in which you want to go, second and third jump allow you to get onto the platform below. Martial Arts Soul (MAS)- MAS is a cheap cheap cheaaaap exocore. (I use it anyway ) Luckily for you, i'm willing to help you fight against it. It's not all that difficult to beat it, once you learn how to predict well. 95% of MAS users will use skill one (BIG FREAKIN UPPERCUT) after blocking your second punch. See, MAS is cheap for three reasons. 1) Easy edging that takes almost no skill whatsoever. 2) Sets up a free juggle, which can also lead to edging. 3) IT CAN COMBO BREAK (Few exocores have this ability. What it does is literally break your combo while you're attacking. For instance! Guy attacks while MAS user is blocking> He tries to do his next punch> MAS intervenes> MAS user attacks the poor, defenseless guy.) MAS does have one downfall... It leaves the user wide open. I highly suggest you do Punch Punch Block > The user uses skill> You unleash your combo on him.----------------------------- 2) Maneuvers Run Grab (Intermediate)- Run towards your opponent (He is most likely thinking, "Zomg noob tackler, I have to block.") and grab him. This is a highly effective trick, but beginners probably won't block and instead, attack you. Pros will sometimes block, sometimes won't. Again, they have to predict what you're going to do as well. This works extremely well on glacier island. (Run back-and-forth> someone jumps onto island> he will block> angle grab to throw him off) This also works well on bridges. (Tackle opponent down> Run away> Come back> Opponent thinks you will tackle> He blocks> You angle grab to throw him off) Attack Grab (Intermediate)- While attacking the opponent, he is most likely thinking, "I have to hold block, just in case he pauses so I can be guarded." Now, you know better (because of me :D) so stop your attack on him and grab him. Most of the time, it is best to finish your combo on the opponent because it will deal more damage, but this is intended for edging. Works well on bridges. Some experienced opponents may see your combo stop, and attack back. Be careful of this. This works well when the opponent is actually getting hit, and not blocking your attack. Recovery Grab (Intermediate)- While the opponent is knocked down, he's thinking, "I have to guard because he'll attack me, when i get up." Unfortunately for him, you're about to pawn him and show him who's boss. As he gets up and guards, grab him. This works well when the opponent is knocked down, and not facing you. (You are behind him, or to the side of him) This works really well when you run towards him (Similar to Run Grab) Aerial Kick (Intermediate)- Used by jumping into the air and attacking opponent with a kick. This works great when you are stationary. The opponent keeps trying to get to you, but you have the longer range with your kicks. Also works well if you are undergoing extreme attacks. (Jump backwards> Come back into battle> Kick in mid-air) Recovery Aerial (Intermediate)- When the opponent is knocked down, jump into the air and come down on him with a kick. (Punches work too, but kicks have more range) This is used to avoid the opponent's recovery kick, and attack him at the same time. After your aerial, you can barrage him with your combo. (In most cases, you can atk him head on after your aerial, but sometimes, he will be faster than you and get the combo on you. This is usually caused by faster scrolls.) Pros will block, beginners usually won't. Also, it's safer to use double jump to aerial kick because the opponent can sometimes delay his recovery kick, and end up hitting you dead on. Double jump ensures that you have enough time to beat his delay. Aerial Grab (Advanced)- It's considered a glitch, but pros use it anyway. It is a variation of an aerial kick, but it's used on those who are... more knowledgeable about the game. Now in my Recovery Aerial post, I said that Pros will block. Hmmmm great thing that grabs beats guard, right? To do this, you have to Jump> P+G. Many of you are thinking "What's this noob talkin' about?!" You have to make SURE that your punch and guard are off timing. P first, and then G, but it has to be uber fast, timing wise. (To those who can read music, the timing has to be as fast as a sixteenth note, or sometimes, even a thirtysecond note) Practice, practice, practice. Practicing it on an NHAA game helps pass the time. (NHAA= No Hit At All) Want to be 100% legit? Don't use it. Want to have an advantage over others, but have a slight chance of getting banned? Use it. This is also the only glitch that I'm going to exploit because it actually helps in combat, whereas glitching out of the intended map is just noobish and sad...Aerial Block (Beginner, lol)- Sorry if the name for this one is deceiving. I mean "Using aerials to block a certain area." For instance, this is used 99% of the time to block off invaders from the island in Glacier Cove. This is a beginner tactic... meaning it won't work on most pros. (However, the Run Grab trick works like a charm on the island ) To do it, stand on the edge and use aerial kicks to knock the opponent into the water. You can angle these if the opponent tries to enter from different sides/positions. Watch out for people entering on the other side of the island. Also watch out for people who have nanmu! They can give you a full on frontal assault and avoid your Aerial Block at the same time.Countering (Advanced)- Ahhhh countering... It's definitely difficult, but actually, countering is used 85% based off of predictions, and 15% timing. You have to use this when you "think" the opponent is attacking you. For instance, when people reach that point in which both opponents are attacking each other at the same time, you can use a counter to break it up. You can either counter, or pray to god that you'll be faster and get the combo over him. Without a doubt, counters can save you from getting edged. (You're blocking> Opponent is atking and atking> He thinks that you will fall off> You counter to get some room to flee from the edge) Countering also helps against recovery kicks (NOT RECOMMENDED ON BRIDGES), tackles, and aerial kicks. Angle Counter (Advanced)- The easiest counter that you can think of... Angle your counter when the opponent is attacking you. This is intended for edging/bridges... Opponent comes to tackle> Angle Counter him> He falls off. (Watch out if he grabs, instead of tackles... The missed counter will leave you wide open and inevitably lead you to your death) Drifting (Advanced)- Difficult to explain... easier to look at and learn... I'll try my best anyway. Drifting is used to change the direction of your attacks to confuse your opponent. So you stop your combo because the guy is guarding, then you move and attack from his side or at an angle. (When you begin to drift, the opponent thinks that he has an opening, but he will most likely end up hitting air, or releasing from block, which allows you to hit him.) Another form of drifting is when you turn 90 degrees and go away from opponent. He will start unleashing his fury into nothingness, and that my friends... is where you pawndizzle him. Side Block (Advanced)- When you are getting pressured (Pressured- Barraged while blocking, the opponent will keep attacking you until you fall off an edge) it's great to use this, instead of risking a missed counter. What you do is, while getting pressured you quickly change the direction of your block (90 degrees). Changing the direction of your block will allow the opponent to push you aside, giving you plenty of time to go back to a safe non-edging zone. ----------------------------- I sincerely apologize for the length of this guide!!!! I'm not done with this guide! I'll revise it with pictures, other advice, and maybe videos. I accept constructive criticism, requests, gifts (Looool),and your support. | Registered User | Re: Intermediate/Advanced Guide Hmmm well the thing is, i think my next potential guide will include like... What to do in certain maps, how to fight off double/triple/quad teaming, and how to use certain scrolls to your advantage. So in a sense, i'm kind of expanding on the general rumble fighter, instead of focusing on certain areas of skill. Thanks for liking the guide, it took me a while >___> Lol |

| Registered User | Re: Intermediate/Advanced Guide i think he did a pretty good job. it WAS describing, but thats probably the best thing to do. if he told you every single thing to do, you'd spend too much time thinking to actually play the game. this way, people can just experiment on their own, and actually learn the techniques themselves. and i think timing and fast reflexes? are more important than predictions. offense is the best defense XD. and MAS isnt as cheap as u think. the "pros" can easily beat it. but watch out for those who are "pro" with MAS. can u even beat them? BTW a cheap exo would be something like ice charger or those discs. =P just spam. nothing to it. Last edited by duhfreak; 04-22-2008 at 06:40 PM. |
