ok....i'm a little confused. what do i do with these codes? or how do i use them?

Those codes are the ID in Database of those items. For now, there is no meaning to know the item code because it used to be a chance to replace the item code by another one. For ex: come to the blacksmith you buy a simple blade capture the receive package and edit the simple blade by a rare blade then voila you can get a rare blade with that easy. BUT... you can do it no more :)
