| Registered User | A guide to Nevermore, the Shadowfiend Introduction: Nevermore is one of those heroes you don't see much of. Most people don't like him because his abilities are too hard to use and he's too weak. I disagree. And so begins my guide to the black, fiery creature, Nevermore PROPER NAME: Nevermore NAME: Shadowfiend LOCATION: Twilight Tavern, far right, middle row STATS: STR: 15 + 2.0 AGI (PRIMARY): 20 + 2.4 INT: 18 + 2.0 ABILITIES: Shadowraze: Level 1: 75 damage Level 2: 150 damage Level 3: 225 damage Level 4: 300 damage The most complicated ability in the game. Shadowraze is technically 3 abilities in 1. One ability attacks with Shadowraze at 200 range, the next at 450, the next at 700, and to complicate things further, it hits in the direction you're facing, not the one you necessarily want. Pros of Shadowraze: -Each one has a seperate cooldown (at level 4, you can do 900 damage to a running enemy if you time it right) -It hurts invisible heroes (if you know where that Clinkz is, Shadowraze and kill him!) -Splash damage :) -Good farming ability Cons: -High mana cost for an agility hero -If he moves before you cast it, you might miss -VERY hard to aim without practice Necromastery: Level 1: 16 max damage added (2 damage per soul) Level 2: 26 max damage added Level 3: 48 max damage added Level 4: 60 max damage added FREE SACRED RELIC! That's enough to get most people excited. All this ability does is store the souls of things you've got last hits on (creeps, buildings, heroes, everything), but it stores an infinite amount, which ROCKS for your ultimate! The only thing is when you die you lose half your souls :( Prescence Of The Dark Lord: Level 1: 1 armor Level 2: 2 armor Level 3: 3 armor Level 4: 4 armor This one takes away the armor of your enemies! It's a nice, shiny aura! Requiem Of Souls: Level 1: 80 damage per soul Level 2: 120 damage per soul Level 3: 180 damage per soul This is THE BEST ability in the game under certain conditions. If you kill 500 creeps and you have your level 3 ultimate (and haven't died yet), you will deal a maximum of 45,000 damage to everyone in a radius around you with this! Enemy team ganks you, kill them all right away, or if you haven't killed enough creeps or have dies, bring them down low enough to kill anyway! When they are closer, it does more, farther away, less, but still enough to kill :) and enemies on one side of you will not be hurt by the souls on the other side :( ITEMS: I don't have permanent item builds, I just improvise (if someone has high health, get buriza, etc.) but I do always get some of the same items. FIRST PRIORITY: Ring of Basilius: Since Nevermore has low mana and needs to use Shadowraze to get kills (If you can't practice in an AI game and you'll get better at aiming it) and on such a low HP hero, the armor is welcome too! Get this first instead of Boots! SECOND PRIORITY: Power Treads: You need the speed to get away from enemies and the attack speed to get last hits. Enough said. THIRD PRIORITY: Wraith Band x2: Agility is a must for an Agility hero, and the exra mana and health is good too. FOURTH PRIORITY: The Butterfly: Evasion + Attack speed + Damage + Agility = PWNZ0RZ. If you're short on money, sell the Wraith Bands for this. (P.S. In the last 4 games I've played with this guy, I coulnd't get The Butterfly before my 10+ kills and 0 deaths scared the n00bzz0|2z away :D) SKILL BUILD: 1. Shadowraze 2. Necormastery 3. Shadowraze 4. Necromastery 5. Shadowraze 6. Requiem of Souls 7. Shadowraze 8. Necromastery 9. Necromastery 10. Prescence Of The Dark Lord 11. Requiem of Souls 12-14. Prescence Of The Dark Lord 15. Stats 16. Requiem of Souls 17-25. Stats MAX SHADOWRAZE FIRST! You need it to spam damage. Only use Requiem when you ABSOLUTELY NEED TO (3 people ganking you, being chased at VERY low health, etc.) STRATEGY: EARLY GAME: 1-11 Get the Ring of Basilius, learn Shadowraze, and ask for a solo in a lane other than mid (no one lets you solo mid :c), when the creeps roll in, start hitting them. When your opponent rolls in, spam Shadowraze on them! NOTE: Only use shadowraze when you're relatively sure it will hit, let them sit within range for a bit just in case they decide to turn around. At this point you should be level 2. Follow the skill build while continuing to spam damage (CONSERVE MANA, DON'T BLOW IT ALL). If they fight back, run away for a bit, then spam again! If you don't kill them, they will have to heal, which gives you the chance to level without interference (unless they try to gank you, or do because your allies don't call missing:c). At this point, you should have enough money for treads. This will be about level 5. Go buy the treads in one trip and come back to your lane to get more money. When you have enough after spamming damage on your enemy and killing them (hopefully) and creeps, go buy Wraith Bands. At this point you should be level 11. MID GAME: 11-16 This part is simple. Just push farther into the enemy's territory and kill creeps for a bit, then pull back and do it again when they push back up! If there is a hero with the pushing creeps, spam Shadowraze and kill them and some creeps too! This is the process you will use to farm for The Butterfly. If they gank you, run. if they persist and chase, use Requiem to kill them all! LATE GAME: 17-25 Get The Butterfly and PUSH! by now you should be able to kill a tower very quickly. In this part, get any items you need to counter heroes. Got a Medusa or other mana dependant hero? Get Diffusal Blade! In the end, of course, if you do this well, they will have left by te time you destroy their base tower or you will have won. GG! Questions? Comments? Suggestions? I don't care! Actually I do! Please reply with some! Thanks for reading! I love exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!! and smilies :) :) :) :) P.S. I tried to spice it up with pictures and colors, but it wouldn't let me :) |

You'll be able to post pictures and replays when you reach a post count of 11, meaning getting rid of that "Lurker". But don't spam though. How do you expect to stay in a lane when you don't even have regeneration items? It's common sense for every hero to have at least some flasks or Ring of Regeneration. You can't really expect to just harrass heroes, you would be harrass too, especially if you're in a lane with two enemy heroes. Last edited by saint; 09-10-2006 at 09:56 PM. |

| Registered User | Re: A guide to Nevermore, the Shadowfiend I forgot the regen :C I just tried to fix it, but that wouldn't work either (what's up with that?). What I tried to add: If you get too low on health and are in danger of dying early, go heal and buy a couple Flasks of Sapphire Water so you won't have to make more trips (unless you run out again). |

| Registered User | Re: A guide to Nevermore, the Shadowfiend Try the edit button again. Maybe you'll have to get to more than 10 posts first. Then only will your "Lurker" change to "Registered User" . Add that in later. |

| Registered User | Re: A guide to Nevermore, the Shadowfiend Try making your guide look more clean. By changing your sentences and adding a little picture of the skill's/heroes. @fen92 : You might wanna know that Shadowfiend hp are low, even if you got lothar's.. you still won't be able to compete an opponent at early game. |

| Registered User | Re: A guide to Nevermore, the Shadowfiend There seems to be a major dispute over whether to get shadowraze or stats. I think that Shadowraze is only for experienced players who can seriously HIT 3 times in a row, or you're playing against noobs. Most get hit on the first and immediately go sideways. If you're against stunners or disablers, obviously get stats. I play nevermore without shadowraze. For kills, I have my lethal damage, and my Requiem. Requiem slows opponents too btw. For easier killing, get the cheap Mask of Madness. 75% faster attack speed and your damage is high enough to effectively gain hp when attacking. Oh, and you could store an infinite number of souls??? I thought the maximum was 30. |
