| Registered User | A Simple guide to Nortrom, the Silencer (as of 6.48b) Normally newbies start off their DotA the first time might use either intelligent or Agility heroes because normally Ranged heroes fall in these categories. I myself, not very long in the game had a few recommendations from friends that played years of DotA. Lina Inverse, Luna, Sniper, Razor, Lion, Rhasta. These are all heroes that are easy to use. However, one day i played 5v5 with friends, in an -ar mode. I got Silencer. With the limited characters i played before in -ap, i struggled because i had no time to understand how he works. So i decided to practice Silencer. I'm Not sure about y'all, but i read some guides, used -tips, watched some replays, made some changes and modified abit how silencer works well. Correct me if i'm wrong because it has been one of my favorite heroes and i would love to know how he functions best. Mastering the ancient art of glaive-throwing, and combining it with the volatile nature of the Blood Elves' arcane magic, he is able to disrupt the magical energies in his enemies. By binding his magical powers to his glaive, he is able to cause damage beyond devastation, gaining intelligence from every kill. Concentrating all his energies, he can cause chaos within his enemies' magical pools, making them unable to cast spells. He is determined to fend off the Scourge and their demon magic until he has breathed his last. Original Level 1 HP - 473 Original Level 1 Mana - 273 Attack Damage - 39-61 Armour - 1.2 Strength - 17 +1.7 Agility - 16 + 2.1 Intelligence - 21 +2.5 Learns Curse of the Silent, Glaives of Wisdom, Last Word, Global Silence Hero Abilities Curse of the SilentAfflicts a target with the Curse of the Silent. Glaives of WisdomNortrom's Glaives are enchanted by his experience in magic. If he kills a hero, he will permanently steal 1 intelligence from it. Damage type is pure. Level 1 - Deals 15% of your intelligence in bonus damage. Level 2 - Deals 30% of your intelligence in bonus damage. Level 3 - Deals 45% of your intelligence in bonus damage. Hero Stats build (Attack Damage - Needs to be complemented with certain items, which will be explained later) Level 1 – Last word Level 2 – Glaives of Wisdom Level 3 – Last word Level 4 – Glaives of Wisdom Level 5 – Last Word Level 6 – Glaives of Wisdom Level 7 – Last Word Level 8 - Glaives of Wisdom (60% intelligence convert into extra damage, this is where your damage is super high) Level 9 - Global Silence Level 10- Stats Level 11- Global Silence Level 12-16 - Stats Level 17- Global Silence Level 18-21 - Stats Level 22-25- Curse of the silent -Curse of the silent is only useful during early game as opponent heroes have low Hp and Mana. Useful for certain heroes that have low Mana to survive, e.g. Skeleton King that requires 100mana to use his Ulti. Build stats to increase Silencer's Hp and Mana first because of his low mana and HP. -It’s good to Spam N’aix in early levels as it will reduce his mana until when he reaches level 6 he might not have enough mana to avatar because he only have one active skill. -Glaives of Wisdom is the skill on Silencer as it contributes 60% of your intelligence to the available damage. So if your Damage initial Damage is 150. If you have 200 intelligence, it gives an additional of 120 Damage to the overall damage of 270. -Silencer's Glaives of Wisdom is a spell. So during early Farming, you can press "W" and hit heroes, and creeps wouldn't attack you. Good for spamming. It's also a hit and run method. After Silencer throws his normal glaives, he can move while the Glaive is reaching enemy heroes and start throwing Glaives of Wisdom. It's like a double-hit. Normal attack + "W" spell, which is the Glaive of Wisdom. Or he can throw from a nearer distance to enemy hero and move backwards, and start throwing again from a farther distance. Item Build Early game -Ring of Regeneration + 3 Ironwoodbranch + Carrier (chicken) -Farm until you get 2530 gold, get Boots of Speed + 3 Glove of Haste, because hyperstone alone cant increase your MS. -Until 420 gold, power treads scroll -Until 1400 gold, Hand of Midas. The 3rd glove is only for additional IAS. Hands of Midas is an essential item for Silencer because he doesn't have AOE skills, therefore Midas is good for farming with the extra gold, plus the IAS. -Mekansm -Dagon or Necronomicon - Eul Scepter of Divinity (good for escaping) because Silencer has low HP in early game. Mid-game -Oblivion Staff+Guinsoo Vyse scroll = Guinsoo Vyse Scythe -Sacred Relic+Radiance Scroll= Radiance -Hyperstone -Boots of Travel (sell power treads) Late/delayed game -Linken's Sphere (for the extra Hp and Intelligence +Spell resistance) -Plate Mail, Chainmail +Cuirass scroll = Assault Cuirass -Heart of Tarrasque Complete/Final Item Build ![]() or![]() ![]() ![]() ++![]() - Items should be bought according to situation. - For instance, I buy mekansm first when there are high damage heroes or AOE around me like Lina, Zeus, Razor. - Dagon is useful for that extra 25 intelligence, or you can get Necronomicon for the demons summon which can be upgraded till level 3 for true sight. - AS is very important for Silencer because he doesn’t have stun or slow, therefore his high Damage should be complemented with High AS and High MS. Hyperstone is important in early game. - Midas is normally sold off after you get guinsoo. - Guinsoo Vyse Scythe is essential for almost every Intelligence Hero. It gives Hp and Mana regen, 25 intelligence, and also HEX. With Hex, Silencer can kill heroes really fast with it's high glaives damage. -Hyperstone should be in your 3rd item Dagon or Necronomicon because normally when you can afford Hyperstone is around level 10-13 because it's enhances attack speed and easier farming + easier hero killing. However like everybody knows, you only get cuirass as the last item, or rather not needed if the game ends before that.. - When you start to get Boots of travel, that is when you can multi-lane pushing and farming. - Mekansm wont be required anymore if you want to get Heart of Tarrasque in late game because Silencer has really low HP. Best Allies Disabler, Stunner – e.g Rhasta, Vengeful Spirit, etc. Worst Enemies Naix – When he Avatars and hits you like crazy, your Glaives of wisdom and high intelligence is useless because the only thing that is really useful in Silencer for Damage is only his Glaives. Anti Mage – You know what his hits and ulti can do to you. Therefore bear in mind. Silencer need more on Intelligent boosting items and also crazy IAS. HP as well. Anyway, If you want Silencer's Voice as your SMS ringtone, You can download it here. There are a few funny tones too if you press him repetitively for around 10 times. | Registered User | Re: Easy guide to Nortrom, the Silencer How to play? How to use the skills? Friends and foes? Public or CW? Farm until 2530 gold and get Boots + 3 Gloves? Oo Midas must be completed within 15-20 minutes, otherwise you won't benefit from its active. The 2nd build is for damage, spaming Curse won't help you at all. Level 01 - Glaives of Wisdom Level 02 - Stats Level 03 - Glaives of Wisdom Level 04 - Stats Level 05 - Glaives of Wisdom Level 06 - Stats Level 07 - Glaives of Wisdom Level 08 - Stats Level 09 - Global Silence / Stats Level 10 - Stats / Global Silence Level 11 - Last Word Level 12 - Last Word Level 13 - Last Word Level 14 - Last Word Level 15 - Global Silence Level 16 - Global Silence Level 17 - Stats Level 18 - Stats Level 19 - Stats Level 20 - Stats Level 21 - Stats Level 22 - Curse of the Silent Level 23 - Curse of the Silent Level 24 - Curse of the Silent Level 25 - Curse of the Silent Radiance is not needed, you deal damage through Glavies of W.. If its just for farming its a waste. Imo same for Aghanim's Scepter, it does not increase his ultimate. There are lots of better items for HP & INT. What about: Mekansm Necronomicon (HP, INT, 2 Summons, Lv3 Turesight) HoT Skadi Refresher Orb |

| Registered User | Re: Easy guide to Nortrom, the Silencer Quote: you do know that they are int? which means they have lots of spells to dispense upon either you or your creeps so as to avoid damage from such 'curse'.. so this skill should be skipped for it wouldn't really make a big difference for you or your opponent.. | Registered User | Re: Easy guide to Nortrom, the Silencer Actually during early game, it's very useful against hero with passive skills, low HP, and high Mana to cast spell, e.g Naix, Tiny. Sorry my bad. The guide was done in a rush. Haven't had time to modify it yet. Trial and error. Share with me your ideas too guys. |
