LUNA MOONFANG
MOON RIDER
I. Hero Information
II. Skill Descriptions
III. Early Game: Levels 1-8
IV. Middle Game: Levels 9-16
V. Late Game: Levels 17-25
VI. Q n A
VII. Replays

I. Hero Information
Luna Moonfang is a stalwart and devout follower of the Moon Goddess, Elune. She fights alongside the Sentinel in the neverending battle
to cleanse the land of the unholy Scourge. Through her valiant efforts, she has been granted small portions of Elune's mystical power.
Luna uses this gift to cut a swath through her enemies. It has been said that Luna is able to call down the very light of the moon
, and is always surrounded by a glowing aura, as though in moonlight herself. Luna is a shining beacon for the Sentinel, an ever vigilant protector.

Strength: 15 + 1.75
Agility: 22 + 2.8
Intelligence: 16 + 1.85

Starting HP: 435
Starting Mana: 208
Starting Armor: 3.1
Base Damage: 43-49

Movespeed: 320
Range: 330

II.Skill Description
Lucent Beam
Luna concentrates on the moon's energy and channels it forcefully to the surface, damaging an enemy unit.

Level 1 - 75 damage,95 mana
Level 2 - 150 damage,110 mana
Level 3 - 225 damage,125 mana
Level 4 - 300 damage,140 mana

Comment : The basic nuke for Luna , but for my guide , Lucent beam isnt needed unless opponent have channeling spells than 1 lv would be required , as it have micro-stun..

Moon Glaive
Allows Luna to attack extra enemies with each Glaive attack. Each enemy struck beyond the first incurs a 35% damage loss, per unit.

Level 1 - Luna hits 2 enemies with every attack.
Level 2 - Luna hits 3 enemies with every attack.
Level 3 - Luna hits 4 enemies with every attack.
Level 4 - Luna hits 5 enemies with every attack.

Comment : Luna's main skill that made her special..Her Best harrassing skill from early to late..main focus for the guide is this skill..

Lunar Blessing
Nearby ranged units gain the power of the moon.

Level 1 - Increases base ranged damage by 6%.
Level 2 - Increases base ranged damage by 13%.
Level 3 - Increases base ranged damage by 20%.
Level 4 - Increases base ranged damage by 27%.

Comment : Not a very useful aura as there are better aura like trueshot and command.only be useful in late game , when damage comes in..

Eclipse
Calls to the moon's magic, summoning a concentrated burst of Lucent Beams to damage targets around Luna each dealing 300 damage.

Level 1 - Summons 4 Lucent Beams,250 mana, 140 sec cooldown.
Level 2 - Summons 7 Lucent Beams,350 mana, 120 sec cooldown.
Level 3 - Summons 10 Lucent Beams,450 mana, 100 sec cooldown.

Comment : Luna's Ultimate , after than change where eclispe doesnt depend on lucent's beam lv , it became very useful...

III.Early game: Levels 1-8

Item Selection
Starting..

As time goes by..

When the game starts , you would have enough money to buy 2 circlet(185 x 2 = 370) and 3 ironwood branch(57 x 3 =171) , which provides 7 stats
that would be quite useful for early game last hitting..

Keep farming till you get a ring of health and you could stay in lane..
than by lv 6 farm up a boots(500) , 2 wraith(275 x 2 = 550) and 1 stout(300) and you wont die so easily..

Skill Selection

Level 1 - Moon Glaive
Level 2 - Stats
Level 3 - Moon Glaive
Level 4 - Stats // Lucent Beam
Level 5 - Moon Glaive
Level 6 - Eclispe
Level 7 - Moon Glaive
Level 8 - Stats

The Skill selection should be very obvious , as Lucent and Blessing wont be at much use early game. You wont have enough mana to spam
so much mana during early game .

Gameplay walk through
Lane selection

Try to solo mid , or get mid with another hero...Dont bother Harrassing heros yet as the glaive would harrass them , jus last hit..

Try to stay back if your opponent are nuker until your lv 6

When Lv 6 , when u learn Eclispe , try to take first blood , remember that there are 4 hits in a eclispe and 300 dmg per eclispe ,
so 4 x 300 = 1200 , but counting in a normal hero ( without item or skill ) magic resistance is 25% so it will be 1200 x 75/100 = 900 dmg..
An average hero would have about 700 - 800 hp at the lv 5- 7
..If thats the case , when the creep wave comes , attack them let the glaive hit the opponent hero and hopfully decrease his
life and reducing his number of creeps..and when theres 1 (orange / red life) creep left , run over and cast eclispe , there will be 70% that he dies
, 25% run and the other 5% would stay and fight..if the hero lives the eclispe , you got 2 choice , firstly chase him if you are faster than him
and he jus ned 1 or 2 more hits to die , deal hit once , if he lives , and the creep wave come , attack the creep and the bounce would hit the hero
and FIRST BLOOD.. Second choice , turn back and farm if the hero move faster than you and ned alot more hits.

Re: Luna's Guide to winning for the team

III.Mid Game: Levels 9-16

Item selection

when you reached mid game , you should complete buy a vital booster(1100) to complete vanguard first , than get a Glove of haste (610) and the Power Treads scroll(420).After those two , you are quite hard to kill.Than farm up a Helm of Dominator ( 900 + 950 = 1850 ) and lastly try to get a lothar's edge(1000 + 1400 + 1400 = 3800 )

Skill Selection
Level 9 - Stats
Level 10 - Stats
Level 11 - Eclispe
Level 12 - Stats
Level 13 - Stats
Level 14 - Stats(if lucent is learned during early) // Lunar Blessing(if lucent isnt learned during early)
Level 15 - Stats
Level 16 - Eclispe

Not much special about the selection..jus all stats for more dmg , attack speed , life and mana...

Gameplay Walk through

At level 9 , you should be able to get vanguard and power treads , thats when you should down the first middle tower , if its stil up , go backdoor it(not recommended in public).
You should also SOLO push mid and HIDE if you see most heros(3-5) missing , try to take out more heros using the early game method , but now there can be 2 creeps as lv 11 eclispe have 7 lucent , 3 lucent can be used on the extra red - orange lifed creeps and 4 more on the heros..
Till you farmed a helm of dominator..
When you got helm of dominator , you can now fight the ancients..
You could cross ancients (go from sent to scourge or vice-versa)
or you could ancients and lane..both works well

Tips on ancients :
Dragons : about 200 - 300 gold , easy to kill
Kill bigger dragon first.
Golem : about 250 - 350 gold , abit harder to kill
Kill green golem first
Dragon Spawn thingy : about 250 gold ?? , easy to kill , but keep missing.
Hit the lv 3 one once , or twice first , than hit the lv 5 one till all dies..

III.Late Game: Levels 17-25

Item selection

When you reach late game , you should be able to be a farmer machine , so farming a 1 butterfly(3400 + 1150 + 1800 = 6350) first than satanic(3200 + 1100 = 4300) will be no problem..By you got this two , you should have already won the game , if not ,than continue to farm for a Assualt Curraiss(620 + 1400 + 2300 + 2000 = 6320) and sell the lothar to get another Butterfly(6350)

Its quite imposible to farmed till all these as the game should already end when you reached Hyperstone..I onli get all those item once in all the many games i played..

Skill Selection

Level 17 - Stats
Level 18 - Lunar Blessing
Level 19 - Stats
Level 20 - Stats // Lunar Blessing
Level 21 - Lunar Blessing
Level 22 - Lunar Blessing // Lucent Beam
Level 23 - Lucent Beam
Level 24 - Lucent Beam
Level 25 - Lucent Beam
This is when you add all the skill points to the left over skills..nothing much to explain first..
blessing is chosen over Lucent is because damage would be more important..

Gameplay Walk through

When you entered late game , you would be already SOLO pushing mid and down raxes , if theres 1 or 2 heros stopping you , try to let them stand near the tower and concentrate to attack the tower , as the multiple bounces will deal damage and force them to back and alllowing you to down the tower...if you are really in trouble , lothar and go kill some nuetral creeps for gold.

when mid is down , changed to go push top or bottom , anyway soloing roshan could be something u could do , but not recommended as it wastes time and aegis have no use to you if you are playing seriously as you wont die...

Killing heros now are different , when u see them , jus attack them and chase them down till you cnt chase , if they dont die , so nevermind..your main focus is winning the game , not winning the kills..use eclispe if you are facing 2-3 heros..

Extra tip , if opponent have 1-2 leavers and you are in their base , and they have 1 non-leaver in near thier fountain , you could try go get a triple kill by turning on satanic and going in kill , you could tank the the fountain till u kill 3 of them as ur lifesteal will be enough for you to live that long..

VI.Q n A
1 . Why Lothar's Edge instead of Blink ?
-Because the rebounces for moon glaives depends on the attackspeed of luna..Although blink allows luna to escape and surprise better than lothar , but it only gives that , its doesnt gives damage or IAS like lothar..Lothar allows you to have WindWalk , 10 agi ( which is +10 IAS) and 21 damage.
Since Moon glaives rebounces depend on attackspeed , most attackspeed items are at top piority like power treads , lothars edge , and butterfly.

2 . WTF!! Vanguard?
-My guide base on a farming luna , not too much of a killer , so vanguard would allow to stay in lane and farm like crazy till you win the game.

Any more questions would be answered accordingly.

Re: Luna's Guide to winning for the team

I seldom play Luna, but this is my item build when i last played on Battlenet..

LEVEL
1. Moon Glaive (Easier to creep with at Level 1 and to harass opponent with.)
2. Lucent Beam

3. Moon Glaive (to farm)
4. Lucent Beam (To increase it's dmg)
5. Lucent Beam (See above.)
6. Eclipse (When you learn it, Wait til level 7

7. Lucent Beam (you can now use it with the C+E combo. Make sure u chase the hero until they die Not too near tower)

8. Moon Glaive (Farming)
9. Moon Glaive (Same as above)

10. Lunar's Blessing (More damage for farming capabilities/hero killing.)
11. Eclipse (To multi-kill)

12-15. Lunar's Blessing (Increase Damage)
16. Eclipse
17-25. Stats

Item Build
First with the meagre amount of gold you have, get:
1) 2 x Wraith Bands + Boots of Speed
2) Glove of Haste + Power treads scroll = Power treads
3) 1 or 2 more wraith bands
4) Mask of Death + Helm Of Iron Will

5) Eaglehorn + Quarterstaff= BUTTERFLY
6) Diffusal blade + Vitality Booster = MANTA STYLE
7) Sell Power treads and buy BOOTS OF TRAVEL
8) Soul Booster + Mystic Staff = AGHANIM SCEPTER
9) Perseverance + Ultimate Orb = LINKEN'S SPHERE
10)Messerschimdt's Reaver(mix with helm of dominator) = SATANIC

FINAL ITEM BUILD
1) Boots Of Travel (Sell your power treads for Luna because luna is one of the highest moving speed hero in DOTA. So Use it's moving speed to chase enemies while eclipse)

2) Butterfly (Fast attacking speed, Evasion)

3) Manta Style (Very useful because your image can also have Moon glaives. That means when you attack a hero (with creeps around, or a second hero), every attack consist of 15 Moonglaives. Plus Butterfly, he'll die in less than 6-7seconds)

4) Aghanim Scepter (to boost ulti/HP/Mana)

5) Linken's Sphere (Increase 15 in overall stats, to increase mana and HP/ spell resistance)

6) Satanic (Lifesteal, and also after activation, increases lifesteal and damage)

manta dun stack with glaive , it will jus cut the mana of the first target the glaive hit..

anyway , manta dont stack with satanic

and 1 last thing , when u activate satanic , it will leech life from the bounces...
