| Registered User | Avoid Phising How can I tell? Lately many users have fallen for websites that try to gain personal information such as your account identification and password. Many users are either too young or just can not tell the difference between these false sites and the official homepage. I hope to enlighten you in this guide how to avoid losing your account and hard work to these hackers. ![]() One thing that you should always look for when you login to Silkroad Online is the VeriSign logo at the right hand column of the website. You will want to click on this logo to make sure that the seal of verification is not out of date or false. Another thing that you need to realize is Joymax will never ask for your secret answer or anything other type of personal information from you. You will NEVER have to update your account information or anything of the sort. This is just a way to have your account information lost. How to check? If you are not sure about the login screen, do not type in your username and password right away. Try typing in random letters and numbers first. If it logs you in, then you can be certain that it is a phishing website. Anther thing you can do is check the Uniform Resource Locator [url] and make sure it has www.silkroadonline.net. URLs like http://silkroadshop.net are not official websites. http://www.silkroadonline.net-member.preserme.pt is also not the official website. If you look closely you can see the hyphen between .net and member. This is a clever way to fool users. You can always ask on the official forums about a suspected website. You will either get a yes or no answer. I would suggest waiting until you get around three responses that say the same thing until you proceed. What can I do? ![]() Many web browsers have a “Report Web Forgery” option. This will send in the website for review and once they see it is a phishing site they will add a notice to the website. This will help potential victims a notice not to enter the website. In Mozila Firefox to report a website you click on help, and then Report Web Forgery. You are then taken to another page where you can add a comment to the report. You then click submit and Firefox will review the site and deem if it needs a notice or not.![]() In Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 to report a website you need to click on tools, Phishing Filer, and then report this website. You are then taken to another page where you select the websites language and then click a box that says you think it is a phishing website. Then you click submit and Microsoft will inspect the website. Other browsers have this feature as well. You can find out how to use it by going to help and then searching for a report website topic. P.S i did not write this so don't throw rock at me |
