| Registered User | guide to using the new Alchemy After scratching my head for 30 minutes I managed to figure it out so I am here to help all the people to learn this quick and simple. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, I want to create a naming scheme for those items you pick up but seem to have no use as they show fire, wind, water, earth levels and units on their description. I will call those "SpecialQ" items. Alchemy Stones are what allow you to upgrade your items special characteristics. These characteristics are things such as critical, parry, phys. reinforce, mag reinforce, and much more. Alchemy Potions allow you to increase your character movement speeds(based on the type you get from 50% increase to 100%). Each of these items can be obtained either thru the Grocer (JinJin, for jangan), thru monster drops or by item disassembly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To use Alchemy Potion, just right click it. To use Alchemy Stone, you must place in the Alchemy window as if you were upgrading a weapon (lucky is not a factor). To create an Alchemy Stone, you must have a combination of an Alchemy tablet and the required Elements. On each Alchemy Tablet (obtained only through drops, from what I see), at the bottom it shows the required amount of Elements and their levels. Place, the alchemy tablet in the circle of the Alchemy window and place the corresponding elements in the 4 boxes that open up when the tablet is in place. Hit Fuse and BAM. Your Alchemy Stone is created. Your Alchemy Stone will contain a success probability near the bottom of the description. It has been my experience that the lower the percent, the higher your chances of success are. You may also disassemble items to create a set number of elements (this number is consistent and changes with the level and + of the item). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First I'll talk about the SpecialQ items. To disassemble the "SpecialQ" items, you must place a Void rondo in the circle section of the Alchemy Window, then place the SpecialQ item in the boxes that open up on the right. NOTE: Once you place the SpecialQ item in the right hand side, it will display how many Void Rondo it takes to break down the SpecialQ item into its elements. Many SpecialQ items can be placed at once, use Fuse All to do this if you have tons of SpecialQ items like me. Now for disassembling ACTUAL items. You may disassemble items in the game which normally you would sell to the NPC. These items, equips, can be broken down into MANY elements of a preset lvl and type. Thus, more people will be breaking down the lower level items for their elements instead of selling them to newbs or to the NPC. To do this, you must get a Destroyer Rondo and place it in the circle of the Alchemy window. Then place your item you wish to disassemble and press Fuse(or whatever button it is). The item should disappear and if you look at your information box(where your xp/items gained usually is) you will see the items you obtained through this method. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A common question I get is, can I disassemble the items with +'s to get their elixirs out. NO you cannot get the elixir back. If your Alchemy Stone fails to upgrade your item, it will return to "normal" status for that particular stat you tried to change. However, if you succeed, your item's previous stat will be replaced by a new stat. This stat could be higher or lower than the previous stat and is called Item Assimilation. SPECIAL NOTE: Upgrades using Alchemy Stones DO NOT affect the + on your weapon/armor, even if your Stone upgrade fails. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any comments or corrections to this please let me know or post it in the reply section. I will update as I see forth but please take into consideration, this is only a rough draft guide for those of us who need a little kick in the arse to get started. I would have posted sections of screenshots as aid but I do not know Gamerzplanet's policy on that and I do not want to infringe. If you are still confused, Shaw has kindly pointed out some other helpful guides: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] My Experience with alchemy: I have tried to use alot of alchemy stones and have had much success. However, I do not like how things have turned out. I have a SOS +2 lv16 spear with str1 and int1. On this spear I have used 5 magic attack power ruby stones (2 successful with a result of 0%, reducing the original 2% that was on it) and 3 int jades (1 successful, added 1 int with 10% ItemAssimilation Probability). If anyone has any comment on why the magic attack of my spear went from 2% to 0% and then 0% again with +2 status, please leave me a note as currently I am to believe that if your weapon/armor is already upgraded, you cannot change base values but only reset them to 0%. The reason for new alchemy system: The reason the new system is in place is because Joymax would like players to be able to "create" their own items that could be as good as those dropped by monsters. The only problem with this is the mere fact that it would requires literally 10's of thousands of elements and tables to make just 1 item any good. By the time you obtain such an item, you have already obtained it through drops or have outgrown it during your grind. Last edited by nbourg8; 06-25-2006 at 08:11 PM.. |

| Registered User | Re: How to use the new Alchemy Oh wow, I did not think they would ever add a section for Alchemy ( I probably missed it if its been there a while ). Anyway, I do think I explained a little better than they did but since I wrote it, I should not voice how my work compares to theirs. Thanks for the links, I'll add them to my post. |
