The wii has, unsurprisingly, sold the most units of this generation. However, the PS3 and the XBOX360, which are undisputedly in direct competition with each other, have an interesting chart. The PS3 chart is, comparitively, better than the XBOX360 chart. Factor in that the XBOX360 had no competition when it launched and you begin to realize something.

Let's put in the PlayStation2 into this chart...Now, I'm not exactly sure how this chart was created but...

It is a well known fact that the PS2 occassionaly outsells the XBOX360 on a monthly basis. But for some reason, I thought that the Holiday sales for all systems were considerably higher. Perhaps they haven't been factored in yet.

If you're going to factor this in, you're also going to have to factor in the 360 shortage, whereas there was no shortage of PS3's whatsoever.
