ive been wondering about that for a while also, i asked my friend and he said that the 80gig has more playability eg playing ps1 and ps2 with no problems compared to the 40gig. Though im not really sure if its, ill just wait for hesham to come and confirm it

60 Gigabyte models were discontinued nearly a year ago in all regions. The ones you see today are merely surplus. You may be able to find one on Amazon if you're lucky.
Ok the 80gb is useful cause when u have ps1 and ps2 games u can put all those saved game files on the harddrive. The ps3 doesnt have a memory card like the ps1 and ps2. So if u want 2 play saved games from those systems u have 2 copy all ur memory card files on2 the hard drive 2 play. The down side of playing games from the ps1 and 2 is that once u start 2 playing a ps1 or ps2 game on the ps3 the game will b saved on the hard drive and u will not b able 2 cont 2 play that game on a ps1 or ps2 system. U must finish playing the game on ps3.

memory card adapter is sold in stores. plug into USB and there u go, plug in memory cards. u can copy data from the HDD onto a card.
