PSP modding help

Hey, I need a tutorial for modding a PSP to use a firmware that can play downloaded PSP games and PS1 games.
I want to mod a PSP slim, I don't have one right now but that's because I don't want to get it right now since I don't know if I can actually mod it to play downloaded PSP and PS1 games or not.
Thanks.

PSP modding help

yes it is possible, but go to the custom firmware inventor's forums and talk to the people there. They know what to do. Also, don't bring up the fact that you want to steal games... they might not want to help you if they find out your intentions. No one supports that idea

and you don't "mod" the psp. Modding is changing the appearance like making a second joystick for playing FPS on the psp or something. It's called "flashing" the inner hard drive usually back to 1.50 official and then working your way up to 3.90 M33-3 cfw (custom firmware). There is always the possibility that it will get bricked, but if you used an unbricker in the first place, I don't think you would mind starting over as opposed to a very nice and expensive paper weight. Once you get everything worked out, the main idea of the custom firmware is to be able to use the 1.50's ability to run any .pbp file to your advantage. Plugins like being able to play your music while in a game and controlling when you want your battery to be charged or being able to convert US/EU save files to the Japanese couterpart. There is so much more than just stealing games for the cfw. It's a programmer's paradise to be able to just tinker with things on a controlled and less powerful machine and be able to see immediate results.

That is why I got cfw for my psp. Because there are hundreds of people out there figuring out how to make it better, because sony has pretty much left it in the wind with the last "update" being more genres for the radio player? Just wow... that's so much progress....

Re: PSP modding help

I think the only way to downgrade a slim is Pandora's Battery, no?

where can i find this forum it might be able to help me !

i have a psp slim and light with official firmware 3.71 and the original slim battery 3.6v 1200mah that goes with it plus a 2 giga sandisk memory chip.

i have been looking in to the advantages of homebrews useable only with custom firmware but am a bit worried about bricking my new psp. i only have the one and i don't know anyone else that has one. so you can imagin my proritys on getting this right !
i don't want to invest in pandora équipment (i would only do that if i brick)

however i heard i can optimise my battery to a pandora so as to downgrade my psp without using a scalpel ! will i be able to make my battery normal again after, as i understand the psp light battery has the disadvantage of being useless after the manipulation transforming it to a pandora battery.

apart from all that how do i make the right magic memory card. i seem to understand there is different magic memory card data out there.
will i need 1 for the pandora battery conversion and an other for the custum firmware conversion.
considering i only have the one memory stick how can i do all this properly without investing in things i will only use once

thx for any help and advice psp gamerz ! lexxus

also do i realy need a pandora battery can i just use the cable that plugs in the wall i saw a post where somone was talking about using no battery at all !

Re: PSP modding help

I think you use Dark Alex's(DAX) Time Machine to run custom 3.90 M33 firmware for slims. It has an added regular 1.50 PSP Kernel for all your hombrew/emus/apps/etc.

what is time machine exactly ?

would anybody mind explaining how i can install it on psp slim 3.71 official firmware ?

and where can it be downloaded ?

otherwise i am now downloading Catb50's Ultimate Magic Memory Stick Creator v4.0 Rev. A.zip here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] apparently This will Make a Magic Memory Stick (whatever that is) for a PSP and also will install Time Machine v0.1
don't know how to do this and can i do this without a pandora battery ?

well aparently Catb50's Ultimate Magic Memory Stick Creator is a great program you can downgrade or upgrade official or custom firmwares not to mention time machine (what ever that is)
only you need a pandora battery but i don't have one so i'm stuck all i can do now is get a pandora battery or find somone that can lend me theres for half an hour because i'm stuck in a visious circle where i need a pandora battery to make a pandora battery.
official slim firmware being too protective is probably the source of all problems !

can't do anything without a $%§@# pandora battery can you ?

here if i buy a datel tool slim pandora batery for about 20 euros on amazon or modify manually by hard modding a sony slim battery into a pandora battery (that i wont do because i prefer having new things than broken sticky taped stuff)

will a pandora batery be useless for normal gaming?
and
will i still need another psp with custom firmware to be able to get costom firmware onto my psp slim 3.71 official
