Problems with downloadable Starcraft

Someone helped me with games for my vacation, and gave me this link for Starcraft: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
So i've downloaded it, unzipped it and mounted a Deamon Tools image from gamecopyworld.com. I've fired the game up, made a profile (or name, whatever) and wanted to start the Terran campaign: nothing happend. It won't start. Can anyone tell me how to solve this?
I've got another problem on my laptop with Starcraft, when i try to start it, it gives an error saying it can't switch to 640X480 and 256 colors. Is there any way i can solve that? I've tried changing something in the Compatibility, but that won't work.
I hope anyone can help :D
