| 1337 Forum Whore | Ability to delete your own thread. Ok, so sometimes you make a thread but later find out the answer to your question. You want to delete before all the noobs come and spam that thread, but you can't, you have to wait for mod/s-mod/or admin to come do it for you but the thread is already spammed. It would easier if you could delete your own threads. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. We really don't deleting things here at GzP. Even the staff hardly does it. We're much more likely to move it to the Trash section or just close it. So, giving you the ability to delete your own thread is contrary to what we do. Don't worry too much about it, if you opened a thread that was already answered, one of the staff will probably find it quickly. You could always report your own thread to have it closed... I've had quite a few of those reports come through. |

| The Next Generation Mod | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. Or even being able to Close your own thread, and have that ONE post removed would be nice. I have seen many of my threads spammed, and Mistrainer's also. I would like the ability to, But to me it's really not a need. I mean Sucrose hasn't beein on in a shit load of time, and Pursuited has been good there, but a lot of the threads are just spammed so much they blow my mind. You have to factor in, How many People will use it? I will, That's a fact.

| Retired Stafferr ![]() | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. While it would be useful, it’d bring about a lot of controversial things. For example someone could post a virus or spam advertisements, and then if they know the mod / mods is/are about to come on, they could immediately delete their posts. Same goes for flaming, etc. From there, you’d have no evidence of anything being posted. That’d be a big issue, and would prevent us from properly being able to do our jobs as mods. And then there’s also the issue of even more spam being caused by something like deleting posts. If you delete a post, that’s a question, or an answer to a question, it’ll make more people spam. While I have no idea why someone would, I know it’ll happen on GzP, and that just causes more problems. The reason we don’t have post deletion is because it causes problems, and since there are no real benefits, and a bunch of bad consequences, this isn’t something we can just do willy-nilly. |

| Junior Administrator ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. I kinda like the idea of having members be able to close their own threads. I see no harm in someone having the ability to close a thread started by them. I would definitely would like to see if given a shot. As for deleting their own posts/threads, I am not for that idea. Granted if a user deleted a thread one would think it would lose any evidence. Well, I know that if it was implemented Sky would not go for that. If anything, I could see a soft-delete. Now, I would not mind soft-deletion by users, but I can see if being abused. So I am biased on that idea.

| Administrator ![]() ![]() | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. It has been done before by mistake and (once realized) it was removed. It's not going to happen again. As far as closing threads goes, I'm not really too fussed but I'd rather leave it up to the moderators. |

| MKD 1337 ![]() | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. would be possible if a user has the ability to "close thread" but its in a moderating process and the mods decides... |

| Junior Administrator ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Ability to delete your own thread. I agree with you to a point too. I see it as if a user closes his own post, then thats less work for the moderator. Which means more time to go indepth on other posts. If a user decides that he/she wants his/her post closed, then so be it. Now the user does not have to edit the post and say so. Hopeing that some time soon the moderator runs across the post and see that. And again, I still can see abuse in something like it. So overall, I am not for the idea, but would work for it if it was controllable and considered by r2k/sky.
