The consequences for those that are putting up viruses are much more severe than the minor thanks they will get.

Think about it, even if a popular hack was put up, they would get, perhaps a max of 500-600 points from thanks in a day... and thats a very generous max, but if its a virus, then that 600 points mean nothing to the banned user with -1500 points.

I like the idea and support it just because of how much more the punishment is compared to the reward.

The Auto-Thanks System would mean, as long as someone downloads it, the user who posted it would get Thanks.

As you've read from the Announcements/News Section, many users are just copying softwares off other sites and putting it on GamerzPlanet - They're not supposed to get Thanks. If it's useful, but not made by that user, why should he get Thanks ? He merely posted it up on GamerzPlanet for the rest. Thats all.

Also, if the person had uploaded an Virus for 'mass destruction' to the user's computer, do you think the user will come back just to 'Remove the Thanks' ? He'd be more anxious to revive his computer than 'Remove Thanks'

This idea just dosn't seem worth it, I mean we already have a thanks system, lets not cause problems just to cure laziness by adding automation.

Well, if the user actually found that Thread/Post really useful, its human instinct to Thank the person somehow. In GamerzPlanet's case, via the 'Thanks System'.

An Auto-Thanks system would be a hindrance to some when they don't want to thank that particular user.

Yes, if we had half of the GamerzPlanet Community for the Prompt feature, we could get it done up - if you had the script/add-on for vb. Or, are you going to pay us to engage a 3rd Party coder to code the script for us ?

But this isn't the most effective way. Theres lots of leechers here. Putting an auto thanking system would be good for leechers mostly.

did not read the earlier posts but it's likely that someone already mentioned this. just wondering. if i uploaded a file, would you still thank me if the file you just downloaded shut your pc down, never to be turned on again? =x

That's a Virus. You'd get banned for that. You will get thanks, but it wouldn't be a point anymore, since your account isn't usable anymore.
