Suggestion Getting points from refferal

You've get a amount of points when someone register via his/her refferal link.

I'd Support this idea. It encourages people to refer friends over to GamerzPlanet. But at this, there's always one problem. People would just create new accounts and putting the referrer name as "'Himself'".

Lets see what the others have to say.

its true that a person could just make a new profile and refer them selfs for points
but that profile would be left unused for a long wile and you could then guess that it being unleft for a long period was just used for the unjust deed of referring them selfs and you can make the appropriate punishment

1. what espoda suggested; dealing appropriate punishment to people who refer themselves is pretty hard and really troublesome job for our mods.

look at the stats:
Members: 218,926, Active Members: 67,109

over 150k accounts, "profiles left unused for a long time" as espoda mentioned.

2. perhaps he really referred friends who have no interest in the forum but are willing to sign up to help him out. in this case, you would have banned an innocent person.

either way, giving points for referals will only cause the number of inactive accounts to rise.

I did know a forums who had a rule.
one account each ip adress.
They had a system that it's only possible to create one account on each ip-adress

how bout those with dynamic ip's and those who are in a public internet cafe behind proxy perhaps etc... good suggestion though...

I'm supposing you're asking the Moderators to check every Account for its activity once per month ? Going through 200,000 users ?

We could implement it some day. But it's not implemented as of yet.

I've implemented systems to prevent re-registration before. It's not really that hard.

I haven't fiddled around with vbPlaza a whole lot, but I'm not too sure if it's possible to receive points for referring new members. I'll have to double-check.

what about a ladder system?

Like, if you refer someone, you automatically get 5% of the points of the person you refered...
For example, if he creates a topic, and post some stuff, and get 100 points the referer gets 5 points

That would be a fair system... Since youll only get points when your refer is active, and the more active he is, the more points you'll get
