Suggestion Promote GZP Poker!

So I enjoy spending time at the casino here, but one thing I have noticed, that every time I have visited poker, it has been empty.

My suggestion... is on the left-hand-side of the forum page, where it says the link for casino, have a link for the poker game with a parethesis of how many players are playing at any given point. I find it such a shame to see a poker running but never really touched.

If something like this were implemented, everyone on the board would see on the left of their screen:

I am certain coding something like this should be doable, and no, it wouldn't garner more users to join... but I really do think something like this would be fun! :)

Oh I lost all my points in the Casino too. It was kind of bad actually... I managed to bet my way from 200 points, to 3000 points using only black jack... then I went and checked out some of the other casino games and alll my money disappeared.

The point of adding poker is more of a 'for fun' kind of thing :) I really think, if on the nav page it said there was users in the room, people would be tempted to check it out, I know I would be. ^^

We could just access this from the Casino afterall. Nothing so special about it. It's the same as the other Games. I don't see a reason why it should stand out by being given a Position there.

Without it, we have more space for other links, which we may implement in the future.

The difference is that you don't need to be inside the poker game to see if there are other players. We can access the poker game from the casino... no shit. What I am talking about is something that displays the number of current users in poker.

Theres a distinct difference between what my main idea is, and what your talking about. I really don't care that much about the positioning, what I really am trying to push is a feature that says how many users are playing poker at any given time. If you really think that space is important, then sure, put it in the casino... but put it such that the current number of users is displayed.

That way, people would know someone is sitting in the poker game ready to play. A while back I went into the poker game and waited... hoping someone would come, and I really just wasted my time. If someone sees people already in the poker room, it gives them a purpose for going in. Otherwise, whats the point? Every single time I have visited Poker, it has been shit empty. Because of this, I really don't spend as much effort to check if it is occupied, I just by default assume its empty.

Implementing something like this, which I don't think should be too hard, should be able to let others aware they can enter the poker room and not have to deal with "another empty room."

Well, It's a good idea. But, well, how many people actually play poker ? Now, i'm not saying that Poker is unpopular or anything, i'm just speaking what I see.

Maybe, like what you said, by adding that to the sidebar, would bring more people into the Poker room. So lets see how this goes.

Meh, I have to admit, I am a big fan of poker, and it just makes me hurt in the inside to see an always empty poker room :(

Ok.. so I just played poker last night with several people from IRC... and have to say, it sucks, bad.

I don't know how many others would know what I am talking about, since I am assuming few have played GZP poker, but it feels like an incomplete game...

Heres what I noticed that I thought could be addressed...

* The text box was laggy as hell
* The game was constantly disconnecting us

(most importantly)
* You can't set your own bets. If you want to raise, you can only raise in increments of 20s.

If you have pocket rockets, and 2 Aces show up on the flop, you want to power-play that shit. ... But... you just can't. The system works such that you can only raise by 20, and you should hope someone else raises, otherwise the bet is stuck at 20.

Before anyone flames me for complaining about the poker too much, I know the easiest argument that people would have against my idea of changing poker is "go somewhere else," which is all good and all but, I really just don't want to. I like GzP as a forum and want to improve it, if even in the most retarded ways.

Having that link on the side can definitely improve traffic to players playing poker, but the poker on this forum can be made so much better!
