This would be a great thing because someone could make a thread or post something, then realize they don't want it there, but they can't delete or do anything but just leave it there...

Nah but i disagree..
Why?
Because if someone keylogs you and they delete their thread after someone has download and use the program, the person who got keylogged will have no proof of it.

There is something called soft delete, it leaves a deleted message and allows it to be restored. If something happens, an admin or mod can still look at the message and restore it if needed. Also, you seem to revive threads a lot.

Exactly what I was going to say.
They can delete their post, but it will still leave the messages there for the staff members to see. It's sort of like "this post has been deleted by {User}", and we can manage/view the original message.

An easier way than deleting or closing threads is to just remove the original post and put:
Hack has been patched.
Problem has been solved.
etc etc etc.
