Post How to speed up your Windows

This is just ways from my Vista Help Manager etc. Some are just compiled.

Method 1
  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Click System and Maintenance
  3. Click Performance Information and Tools
  4. Click Learn how you can improve your computer's maintenance.
That's where I got this info. You'll need to go until Step 4 to use the things below.

~~~~~~~~~~Manage startup programs~~~~~~~~~~
Some programs start themselves automatically when you start Windows. Too many of these programs opening at the same time can slow down your computer.
To disable these programs from startup and improve performance, use Windows Defender. For more information, see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
~~~~~~~~~Adjust visual effects~~~~~~~

You can optimize performance by changing how menus and windows appear.

~~~~~~~~Adjust indexing options~~~~~~
Indexing options can help you find what you're looking for quickly and easily on your computer.
You can search more efficiently by narrowing your search to focus on those files and folders that you commonly use. For more information, see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
~~~~~~~Adjust power settings~~~~~~

Change power-related settings so that your computer resumes from power-saving settings more efficiently, and adjust battery usage for portable computers.

~~~~~~~Open Disk Cleanup~~~~~~~
This tool deletes unnecessary or temporary files on your hard disk so you can increase the amount of storage space you have. For more information, see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
~~~~~~~Advanced tools~~~~~~

Access advanced system tools, such as Event Viewer and System Information, that system administrators and IT professionals often use to solve problems. You can also view notifications about performance-related issues and what to do about them. For example, if Windows detects that a driver is reducing performance, click the notification to learn which driver is causing the problem and view help on how to update the driver. Issues listed at the beginning of the list are impacting the system more than issues listed later in the list.

Method 2
  1. Click My Computer or Computer
  2. Right-click on a blank area and click Properties
  3. Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings , find Change Settings and click.
  4. Along the 5 tabs, click Advanced. Under Performance, click Settings...
  5. Now, there will be 4 bubble-ins with a tick box under the bubble-ins.
  6. If you choose:
  • Let Windows choose what's best for my computer, it will tick all the boxes. Which makes the computer go at default speed.
  • Adjust for best appearance, it will tick all of the boxes, too.
  • Adjust for best performance, it will untick all the boxes. Your computer will look kind of ugly. If you want sped then deal with it.
  • Custom: , it will stay the same. You have the ability to manually select the boxes.
Or you can just go to Control Panel:
  • Click System and Maintenance
  • Click Performance Information and Tools
  • Click Adjust visual effects and it will take you there.
Method 3 Compiled from:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
1. Open Run (Hold down Start and press R) or you can go to the search accessory on your computer and type in Run

2. Type in msconfig
3. Go to your Services tab and disable everything or if you want to keep some then don't untick the ones you want
4. Go to your Startup tab and disable all of them except your antivirus program and any other malware/internet security programs. Also the ones you want to keep.

5. Press OK or Apply and restart your computer. Some programs might not work properly because it needs some supporting program/s in your services tab. You may change it later in the future if you want/need to.

~~~~~~~~~~~~More Coming Soon!~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note: I don't know if this works for other Windows Computers. I use Windows Vista.
Re: How to speed up your Windows
I have another method of doing the same thing:
  • Upgrade all internal components to the newer versions.
Seems my way is less complicated.
