Avg or avast, I prefer avast because avg can have problems at some points, but those are some of the best and they're free.

Very high detection rate, updates daily, and very flexible.

I use AVG free, and Avira on another computer. I don't like Avira that much though, gives random pop-ups (advertisements) which minimizes any screen you have on at the moment, does that like once a day. You might be able to turn that off though. Haven't looked into it.

On the other hand, I never had problems with AVG, and never had much of a virus problem either. I did have a problem with MS hacking programs, but that was when Global-MS was like v0.34~38.
