    Dynamic IP wan adress

ok so here is a question for all the smart people :), is there a way to make a dynamic ip wan adress stay the same w/o having to ask my isp to change it to static ip, cause i know its like 300+ $$ a month so i was wondering if it would be possible to keep it the same.

Why im asking for this is because of the folowing situation im in. The cstrike server which i finally got running, changes external ip i believe once a week, which my lease date is set too *cant put it higher* ** ive read somewhere your external ip changes before the lease date expires**, so people cannot save this server to favorites, cause if they do the external ip will change whenever the time is ready and they will always think the server is offline. Now id like a way to prevent that from happening other than buying static ip if this is possible

    thank you in advance :)

No. The best solution is to use a dynamic domain name like [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to associate with your IP.

That's actually a subdomain... and it is free. Everyone who connects can use your domain name instead of your IP, and you regularly update the domain name to point to the IP (can be done automatically with a program).

i dont clearly understand, do you mind explaining me how a cstrike server and a domain relate to each other, or how does a subdoman relate to the server? thank you.

Read the details at the site I provided as an example.

Also see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Basically, getting a subdomain allows an unchanging name to be used to refer to a dynamic IP. There are many free subdomains available, but to my knowledge there are no free primary domain names.
