| Registered User | vbPlaza Stock market I know it sounds crazy, but it could be a fun idea too ^^ I don't know who was responsible for coding the vb Plaza in the first place, but I feel the following is a feasible change that can be made... We have different sections on this board that could each be treated as a "stock". Users could invest in say... "Chit Chat", or "Suggestions", and of course they may gain or lose points. The measurement of growth for each stock can be how many additional posts are there compared to the previous day, currInvest * deltaRate Ex. I invest 500 points in "Gunbound hacks" section. There was 4 posts that day. The following day, there was a total of 4 posts at the end of the day, the 500 points remains unchanged. However, on the next day, there was a total of 3 posts, my investment is worth... currInvest * rate 500 + (3/4) = 375 The day after, there are 6 points, so... currInvest + rate 375 + (6/3) = 750 Something like this seems doable and could be fun ^^ And heres the fun part too, if such a system were implemented, users may figure they can invest in an unused section, post in that section and just watch there points rack up exponentially. BUT! Should a user be responsibible for 50% or more of the posts on a single section that they invested in, they will face SEC-like regulations. By SEC-like regulations I mean the "gzp-SEC" could take whatever amount of the users account and bank. If the gzp-SEC senses collusion and has significant proof, then the same can happen. Tell me what you think, something likes this I feel could definitely be fun to do ^^ |

| RPG Administrator | Re: vbPlaza Stock market I actually really like this idea. But who'll be responsible for coding in this system and how will we select SEC members? If someone does code this in, the "SEC" could be the members of the staff, I suppose.

| Moderator ![]() | Re: vbPlaza Stock market This idea's very instinctive and came at the right time I must say, seeing there are some Sections which are really over-populated, whilst others are under-populated. I would suppose the SEC Members, would be a few Members of the Current Staff Team ?

I wouldn't mind applying to be a SEC member ^^ ... but yea, overall it would seem mods be the best position for it. :) @r2k Would it be that hard to code it in ourself? I'll admit, I do not have experience editing layouts of forums, but as a side job from college I build websites for small-mid sized companies. If no one would be able/willing to take up the task of coding this then I would definitely be interested in helping to make it. I am very comfortable with php and familiar with mysql... | |

| Retired Stafferr ![]() | Re: vbPlaza Stock market Definitely not views though. I think there should be something proportionate to the section individually. Like he said it varies upon the section itself. Which is nice because if a section averages one post a day... and all of a sudden it has 2. Then there you have it... you've got a 100% gain. However. Something to think about is... What if we prevent stockholders from counting their posts in those sections? Prevents biased-ness and makes the posting more spread out as a whole anyways. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | Re: vbPlaza Stock market If I'm given a certain amount of "views"(sql view) of the forum's activity and can spend a little time learning VbCode, I might be able to make something out of this. To my admins, the same time restrictions apply as in our admin section, please check. |
