Fixing connection issues with high speed internet.

Wolf Team is a P2P(Peer To Peer) game.

Which means, if you don't forward the ports properly, then connection issues are likely to happen.

Follow these steps in order to port forward.

First, you need to set up a static IP address if you don't already have one. If you do then don't read this. If you don't then go to
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Go there and choose your Operating System. Then follow the guide on setting it up.

And when choosing your static IP address, I would advise making it 192.168.1.100 local IP and making your router's DHCP choose 192.168.101-192.168.1.150 so it won't give someone else your static IP address and block both from the internet. It will give you a faster connection than 192.158.1.136 as the guide seems to usually say.

Go there and choose your router's brand and model. Then choose the game you need to port forward to. NOTE: WolfTeam is not on that site yet. So choose Rakion as the game to forward to if you don't think you can put the ports in without the guide. It uses the SAME ports as WolfTeam which are: 2300-2399 UDP.

Also, please do everyone a favor and turn off your firewall. Windows firewall, even when set to "Allow" status with WolfTeam can still slow it down.

If you are worried about being attacked without a firewall up. I would personally recommend Comodo firewall.

It is free and easy to use. I also can't see a difference in my ping when having it set to allow all connections from Wolf Team and when I have it off.

Doing those things can help a lot with "Connection" issues even when you have high speed internet. However, a lot of times it is someone else in the room. Whenever the game can't display someone's ping fast when first going in to a room, it will kick you. Usually in the time it takes for the pop up to kick you, the person's ping will show up. I have seen as high as 3000 ping (I am sure there is much higher, but they don't show up fast enough for me to even see their ping). Some laggers can actually kick a whole room because their ping is way too high.

Plus, if you are a "lagger" and wish to not have an unfair advantage over other people, this should get rid of it. I have never been a "lagger" after port forwarding and using Comodo firewall instead of Windows firewall.

I hope this thread will help more people to play the game and have less bugs such as respawn glitch. It might hopefully even reduce the laggers a bit.

Whats comcast and I'm really nervous on doing this method. Is it safe? Me myself have connection issues. And as far as I know my Internet is at a good speed of 100-50mbps.

My computer is working well. I dont moon jump in games like soldier front and and my computer is also working well with Wolfteam (I dont moon jump or like lag/freeze.) Only problem is when I kill almost anyone he kills me back after 10 secs.

Ask people in game what your ping(ms) is. And does the person who is doing that to you have high ping? If he does, it is HIS lag with the server not yours. Usually ping should be 20-190 or so in WolfTeam, in other games 190+ is really bad, but it's softnyx :P. If someone has 500+ ping it's safe to assume they are laggers. If they have 2000 or more no one will be able to even join the game until their ping goes down which at that high it usually fluctuates a lot (like one second 20 ping the next 5000 ping or something like that). Also with softnyx someone can have 10 ping and be laggers, if it is outrageously low they could be lagging.

My modem says I have a 100 MB/s connection when it is really between 6.5 MB/s and 7 MB/s

Well when I go in a game it shows my enemies ping with 1000+ ms. Im not sure if it's because of my ping. But yeah I wish it's not cause if it was I would really be disappointed.

OMFG. I just noticed that my internet speed was low. Even though it says 100mbps.

It probably isn't that low, above 6 mb/s is pretty good. In Japan, they have average of around 10.5 mb/s or so because they have (or so I have heard) fiber optic internet standard. With the right program, 6 mb/s connections can download up to 3 mb/s (when I download that fast the file usually gets corrupted though). Flashget ftw :P.

If you forwarded your ports and turned off your firewall or are using a good one that won't interfere with WolfTeam, it probably is their lag. Last night when I went on I got kicked from 3 games in a row because people had high ping. Most people don't fix their connections because of out of sync and teleporting. Or they just don't know how to port forward or even why they have high ping. I wish Softnyx had a real forum, that way I could post the guide and it stays relatively in the same spot for people to read.
