Any good ways to get rid of lag?

My WoW has been lagging since i first got it. I have highspeed LAN and 712 RAM. I can't change my video card for some reason. Anyone know how to get rid of lag?

(things i don't want to hear)
-Get a new computer(No wai)
-Get RAM (No, I just bought some)
-Defrag your comp. (did that, did nothing)
-Get rid of your unused programs (already did)
-Get a new video card(no wai)
-Search for viruses (already did that)
-Clean the inside of your computer (already did)

Re: Any good ways to get rid of lag?

And your post just shows pure immaturity, unlike your spoiled ass most people have to get their own shit and obviously it show's he doesn't have the money to just go upgrade. If your gonna reply to him, answer his question and don't flame.
Set up a no-ip account and put that in your wowemu.key so it's like,
ws_host=chaosblue.no-ip.info
Then in your hosts file put
127.0.0.1 chaosblue.no-ip.info
or whatever the lan IP is of the server hosting it if it's on another pc, also thats another way to reduce lag if you have a spare lying around, host on another.

toxin06 stfu noob noone cares what u say.

wai?? i searched online for the definition of "wai" and wasnt able to get a result so im not quite sure what your trying to say.

upgrade your comp, get a new video card, get more ram...basically do everything you said "no wai" to. (still unsure of what "wai" means.)

Re: Any good ways to get rid of lag?

Wai mean way. Man, you guys are probably back in patch 1.1 if you never heard of it. The video card problem, I can buy my own, but someone bought one for me. They tried to install it into my computer, but it didn't fit. The RAM I just bought and im not wasting anymore money on it. Im trying to get rid of lag, not make a debate on words.

Djallen go to a spelling bee if you really care that much. I don't.

Re: Any good ways to get rid of lag?

Right now its more the game then you. It is kinda laggy because its near tuesday. After the patch it should be perfect.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] - Use this for viruses, just to be extra careful. :)

No need to update anything. Close all of the crap you dont need when you play. Ctrl + Alt + Del and close anything really big. Chat programs, Firefox, Limewire...all of that stuff you have no use for when you play.

Hope you can start playing soon.

WoW will ALWAYS be down on Tuesdays. From usually early morning till about 12:00-1:00 EST.

Re: Any good ways to get rid of lag?

Alright, this is how I got rid of lag in some games that lag like a bitch sometimes, WoW, San Andreas, UT2k4 in big maps etc. Open run and type dxdiag after thats done loading go to the sound tab and turn off Hardware Acceleration, yea your game sound will crack some and the quality won't be all that great but it makes a big difference in gameplay.

Re: Any good ways to get rid of lag?

close ALL your background application such as messenger etc... once you have done that follow these steps:

1) right click on your computer and click on properties

2) select the "advanced" tab then click on "performance"

3) from there you have 4 options you can either check the "adjust for best performance" box ro you can check the "custom" box and check or uncheck the animation you want or dont want.

Once you have done that you will need to increase your virtual memory, to do this you follow these steps:

1) Use the exact same steps as if you wanted to change ur performance, but instead of keeping the tab on "visual effects", click on the tab called "advanced"

2) From there look under virtual memory and you will see the "change" button click that

3) Now select the drive you want to add virtual memory on

4) select the "custom size" box

5) as initial size set the minimum MB you want it to use from yuor hard drive, and as your Maximum size just set it to the maximum amount of MB you want virtual memry to use up from your hard drive.

personally mine is set from 800 - 1500 MB

6) Once you have done that click on the "set" button then click on the "ok" button all the way through to save all your new settings

Now prepare to play your games with a great reduction in lag :)
